Been vaping a month after switching from smoking, shouldn't i be coughing?

Hi all,

I've lurked for some time but this is my first post.

I have been smoking herbal for 5+ years, I've recently got into vaping and have a maud-dib box from magic flight. In instances before I purchased my vape where I would not have anything to smoke, I would cough up the typical black gung from your lungs shortly after ceasing to smoke. I'm aware why this happens and why it doesn't happen normally when you smoke.

I have now had my vape a month now and was expecting to cough as my lungs start to clean themselves, however this has not seemed to have happened.

Currently I am out of concentrate and I am now experiencing the coughing a few days after stopping, black gung and all. I'm wondering if it is possible to continue to vape and also look after my cilia? Should my vaping be impacting my cilia like this?

Any help much appreciated, concentrates/vaping is all entirely new to me!

I just did a little bit of research for you. I don't own Maud-dib so take my comments with a grain of salt.

Magic-flight.com advertises: "The Muad-Dib (pronounced maw-deeb) Concentrate Box... reaches 900° in just three seconds."

According to the Volcano temperature chart, production of toxic vapors such as benzyne begins at 392 degrees.

In conclusion it appears your Muad-Dib operates at a higher temperature than most vaporizers, and possibly for this reason is not giving the health benefits you were expecting?

thanks for the replies

i contacted the people who make it to ask about what temp i should use and they stated 450-500 degrees, should i not be using less for concentrate based on the chart above?

What is your actual goal/question?

If you want good dabs from your Muad-Dib, you should probably follow Magic Flight´s advice/instructions.

If your lungs are damaged and you want to heal them, you should consider taking a break from dabbing and making some edibles instead (we have lots of good recipes in the Cooking section).

If you are looking for lots of good vaporizer advice (for example best techniques for the Muad-Dib, or reviews of vaporizers with digital temperature controls, or which are the best vaporizers for concentrates) then you are in the right place. :)

I don't do concentrates, but I have a few friends that do them regularly. Their vaping is much much hotter and irritating to the lungs than vaping ordinary herb, so I think it's probably paralyzing your cilia just like smoking. You are still eliminating the tars and carbons by vaping, but I would guess that if you temporarily switched to herbs you would experience the "expectorant" vapor effect.

All my friends that have switched to vaping seem to be breathing a lot better now - no more hacking coughs that made them sound like that were coming down with a bad case of TB.

using the vaporiser i can definitely tell i feel better, i was not expecting my cilia to be affected though and i thought i would cough out all the accumulated nastiness. if i continue to vape, will that just sit there or will the body remove it another way?

Everything you have said so far to me suggests maybe you should take a break from dabbing. But I am just a random internet person with zero medical expertise. Your doctor could give you much better answers, and maybe even examine your lungs with his or her magic doctor tools. ;)

Vaping flowers or dabbing is better though cool water. Take a look at the glass FC forum.
