Fellas the Crafty has been unboxed. I still have to go to this super lame christmas ornament party, and there's only one thing I'm going to be thinking about. I know if I rip this thing right now I'm going to get super blazed, and I can't be having that around the family at an awkward party.

Anyways, what surprised me right off the bat was the size, this thing is the perfect size to fit in a pocket. I was definitely thinking the unit was going to be larger. Seeing the Crafty on the internet doesn't represent the size accurately. It's more compact in real life, it can't be any bigger than a pack of playing cards. It's not as wide as that, maybe slightly less wide, and take that difference and add it onto the height of a standard playing card and you have the crafty.

The plastic feels like a superb quality resin was used. It doesn't even feel like plastic. When people say plastic, it's too general of a term and people start to mentally picture things that are throwaway plastics.

The term plastic is like saying that something is made of metal. What kind of metal? Stainless Steel is a lot different than Cast Iron. When things are alloyed together, you get that hybrid vigor, subsequently you have a material that is much stronger than the sum of it's component parts.

To call this thing simply plastic is an injustice, this is some high quality polymer resin they've used to form the shell. Definitely feels like s Storz and Bickel product. Very reminiscent of the Solid valve's exterior body. It's probably the same resin. Good shit.

Visually, the bowl also looks to be the optimal size. To completely fill the chamber wouldn't even be as much material as I was anticipating. That goes along to my impressions that the unit was going to be larger, I was thinking it was going to be like packing the solid valve. The bowl size is very comparable to the original iOlite.

Tonight I'll pack several full chambers and post my vapor impressions.

I'm lucky that I tracked down the post man, I was flying across the highway to get back home, I didn't want to miss the mailman, I had to sign for the package, and sure enough I had a slip in my mailbox that I missed him. Tracked him down, he went into his mailtruck and I signed for it, I'm now a proud owner of a Crafty.
Won't be proud until tonight when I'm puffing vaporious essence into the atmosphere, Crafty style.

Excellent points on Plastic and comparing it to what kind of Metal? In any case it's a fine and durable device. I'm fine with the vented look however I am enchanted with the look and feel of the new Alfa portable, but highly doubt it performs even close. I'm a sucker for elegance and simplicity though. But you are absolutely correct: The size is super stealthy and nicely hand-fitting. The chamber is a beauty to marvel at and the bowl size is Goldilocks-just right. IMO.

Looking forward to your first impressions. I'd recommend starting at a lower temp so you get to really experience the immense flavor qualities and spectrum this thing delivers. I'll start around 390-393F for the first 3-5 puffs and then kick it up to 395-400 F to extract until completion.

Only problem I have with the Crafty is that it is so quick and easy to use I am going through my small bud supply a lot faster than when I was using a MFLB. ;)

Interesting. It seems I'm using less than with the Pax because I get more extraction with less material. It's way more efficient than the Pax as far as I can tell. Hard to say compared to MFLB. I'd have to take that out of retirement to say, but that its still retired might say quite a bit.

Volteric, I'm not sure if it was just my opinion or not, but I stopped using my pax because i thought it was an enormous weed hog. The way it seems to perform best is by mashing the weed in super tight. ( I do tamp my flower in the Crafty, but not like I did for the pax. )

It's true that I once did tally marks on a paper while I was hitting because I was wondering how much bang I was getting for all that weed stuffed in the oven. I got over 40 draws of nice visible cloud. That's good, but honestly it was too much for one sitting. I would struggle to finish solo.

I tried half loads with a half liquid pad. Again, I taste metal in my mouth all day when I use those, so I have stopped. Very unpleasant.

The pax is odd, 40+ hits is nice, but I don't want to shove a quarter gram or more in every load. Craftys oven seems perfect. It never leaves me wanting for more hits off one load. But also does not have me fighting to finish the load off so I'm not wasting.

And honestly, I think the insides of my cheeks actually ( Face cheeks. ) touched each other trying to draw through that. Stoner duck face. Crafty is so much more pleasant to draw off of. ( Actually thinking about it, my other cheeks were probably touching to, the pax can do that to a fella. ) lol. ;-)

Cool. This post by Volteric and richini's posts are making me feel like my Xmas eve purchase was the right one. Thanks.

Why would you have to "fight" to finish a load? Why not just dump an unfinished load into an airtight container that you could use again in a later session?

Whoever sells the first water pipe adapter that gets my interest is getting my money lol. I like the idea of bypassing the cooling unit, simply because I can then use that while cleaning my cooling unit. But its really not a big deal. Any decent way of hooking this up to glass is worth it.

I'm working on it! My 18mm Crafty/Mighty mouthpiece Waterpipe Adapter is complete! I'm working on the 14mm version this weekend and will be publishing them both within the next several days!!

We all have our different scenarios and situations we vape in my friend. And maybe I don't prefer the taste of a restarted half baked load. Either way, it didn't suit my style, I actually went back to my solo after using the pax a while. Crafty has shelved them both.

Yep-I think it's time to retire the Pax. I in all sincerity considered it my very best portable, but no longer. It just sits there like an unloved woman. Loved but not abused. I've tilted at many a windmill, but the Crafty suits all my quixotic ideals (for now!)

Vapor Sloth
I just dump when I'm done. No saving shit for later or anything. Just throw that shit out.

Anyways, went visiting the in-laws for a few days and Crafty and Mighty were a huge hit with the family. I definitely made some vapor converts. Its hard to believe that my entire vapor lab now fits in a small camera case, very convenient.

However, one thing you should NOT do, that I did, and that is drop your phone and break the LCD screen the moment you arrive!!! Had to download the app on my wife's phone so I could demo the unit. But everyone was very impressed when the vapes came out. No one had any idea anything like this existed. Which brings me to a point. Here at FC I take all this weed knowledge for granted. My family had so many questions it really opened my eyes to the fact that most people do not know or understand what we do here.

Anyways, good vibes with Crafty and Mighty so far, this new portability is going to allow me to travel more easily which is life changing for me . . .

I had to like this post for the Don Quixote reference alone. :p

I have a new routine that I've been using for the last couple weeks. I usually use a full convection vaporizer when I get home from work. I don't take the ABV very dark at all, but I've always tossed it out in the past. Now I've been dumping my ABV into the Crafty loading tool instead the trash. When it's time for bed, I load up the Crafty with the ABV from the loading tool, and bump up the temp to 210C. I still get big cloudy rips from the ABV and it's full those high-temp goodies that help me sleep.

2 sessions for the price of 1!

I'm jealous, not that you have both a Mighty & a Crafty, but that you can share them & discuss vaporization with your in-laws. I can't quite fathom that. You're lucky- it sounds like you've got a forward thinking, open minded family. (And, yes, I may be a bit jealous that you have a Crafty and a Mighty).

Okay so I have vaped myself into a stupor, I'm just coming out of it. Let me try to be concise.

Purity, Flavor, Effect

It took me a while to get the hang of ripping this thing. I was setting it initially to 375 and it was roasting it too quickly. At 350 you get some heavenly rips, incredibly smooth and flavorful. With my Volcano I always thought that 375 was best to start off. This is different, it's weird to be hitting a Storz and Bickel product that's not in a balloon, rather direct draw. With portables, since there's such a short air path; they're bound to hit a little harsher. When I say harsh, it's more or less just dryness in the mouth. This is a true vaporizer in every sense of the word, the hits feel rich and wonderfully atomized.

My lungs feel great no irritation at all. Definitely feel the trademark Volcano vapor quality and materials in the unit. In no way does this thing feel cheap like an ioLite or Wispr, it's a very solid feeling device.

I still have never hit my EVO though a hydratube, standard mouthpiece only and I've still loved all 6 months of it.

What I have learned is that you cannot use the same inhalation techniques as you use milking the EVO.

This vape is very much a smooth, slow sipper. There's no need milk it fast, slow and steady is the way, that's when you'll feel there's zero draw resistance, and even if you take a medium sip; you're getting a lung full of rich vapor.

I wen't from 350-375-390 and vaped myself into cement boots. This thing is pretty awesome, the oil pad is necessary unless you're packing the whole chamber.

I'd recommend 350F to start off, +25 on the booster, shut the unit down, add 15 to the booster to get you to 390, power it up ,double tap to go right into boost mode at 390F and I just vaped myself into cement boots.

I always feel guilty pitching my AVB, it's usually straw colored, still some green, still some fractions of trics.

When I did the 350-375-390 this duff came out pretty brown, that's all I ask for; I have no problem pitching that.

Anyways, awesome vape. Takes a little while to charge, but the sessions can be very quick, it gets up to temperature very quickly, and a session can be over and done with and very satisfying in under 5 minutes.

That's what a portable should be about.

Kudos S&B, grand entrance. A product done right. It's a certain kinda vape for a certain kinda person, and it's not for everybody, but the people who dig it appreciate it on many levels.

It's quite a satisfying vaporizing experience.

The Crafty has landed!!
It is MUCH smaller than i anticipated!

Charging her up now with a report later!
App installed, now time to re-read the thread for tips!

Re-reading not necessary bro! Fire her up, put as much as you like inside that sweet bowl and draw at any rate, any speed (I prefer fairly slow draws myself these days, I find the experience better this way...) to get those sweet clouds she offers so generously! :D Congrats!!! Welcome to the club!

Hi Very high
Crafty got me vaped 110% no issues. If i really stuff the oven full and pack it down using the tool I can have a session lasting easily 20-30mins with consistent vapor production using 180C boosting by 16C is just perfect for me. I love with this unit even after I let it power off I can still get a couple more tasty cooler draws! Yum!

Only issue with this length session is of course the small battery. After a full charge if I have a 30min session I am down to only one square on the battery.

I am currently on 27 hours of operation

yeah that's one trick I noticed, even when it powers off after 1 minute you can still get nice tasty hits on it that still beat most other portables on the market.

So I've had the crafty for a day and this vape has really impressed me. The size is smaller and the weight was lighter then a anticipated. I love the way the cooling unit and the mouth piece swivel, it feels so smooth and secure. The heat up time was average I think, the taste was amazing. You can blow dense clouds with this thing.
The filling tool is sick. It is very useful the only complaint is I have is the battery life, oh and the way the temps are displayed on the app when you chose your temps. Rather than setting your normal and then your booster in +whatever, I would like it better if the booster temp was a set number. That way changing the initial temp doesn't change the second.

Also, a day after I got my crafty it started acting weird. It wouldn't connect to the app. I tried using it while charging and it started flashing red and blue. Anybody know what to do?

Ummm I just found this thread and am a little overwhelmed by all the posts in a short amount of time. I started reading but didn't get that far. Would someone mind giving me a quick catch up explanation of what is going on with this vape. Is this the best new portable? How does it compare to others? Is it worth the high price tag? Is a whip the only way to connect it to a water pipe?

Sorry for being lazy. Please tag me in your response. Thank you
