Cory Glass Designs re/incyclers - high function and affordable?

Now there is hardly ever going to be any post in this thread because everyone here is waiting for a piece or a response about a piece. I would love to see members posting pictures and videos of their new Cory glass and telling success stories but that is like a fable from a parallel universe. I actually just broke down and got a Instagram so I could see what's up on there... Just more inconsistent posting and inability to communicate with the many people who are perspective clients. Apparently the better you get at blowing glass is somehow related to blowing people off

Something along these lines?

I am not griping about it, but can understand where people are coming from when they do not want to sign up. I have enjoyed following this thread, but I still have little/no interest in buying from Cory at this time.

For me, it is moot if you can set KIK up with real or fake info, I simply do not want any other accounts or log-ins to keep up with; I certainly do not want any more unwanted emails and notifications either. This is my choice and I go without buying from people like Cory for this reason.

In this day and age, if a retailer refuses to simply use email, they are not a person I want to do business with. Considering it is the easiest method of communication and damn near everyone has access to, why force potential customers to sign up for additional websites just to communicate?

He has cool glass, but I rather do business with a shop/artist I can email or call. There are so many great retailers and shops out there, thousands of them, I am not interested in jumping through hoops or signing up for any new sites just to contact someone... IMO there are too many good retailers and LHS out there that make buying and communicating far easier.

Rant over.

Straight up. i'm the guy that is like, "yaaay i love everybody weooo" but man, i'm having to super limit myself to say your are simply way to entitled. This is a professional glass blower working with a studio, etc. And doing custom orders for literally no mark up other then basic blowing cost is INSANE. get any piece here of the same quality near 25% near the price. you can't. " in this day in age" if your going through a custom processes, how could you possibly push your expectations on someone. i get if you paid money, in a process and have complications, but man... your just too lazy to get a one click one down load no effort app to go through a cost saving custom process? I would never do any work for you. your not ordering a manufured button.

rant over.

and at everyone saying a "fabled" delivery.... I contacted him. I paid him. He gave me a message once and thats cool. I waited 3 weeks. I got the best piece i've ever had. How is this speculation blowing up so weird.

I had a little trouble understanding your post, but it seems like you're getting on someone because they don't want to install another messaging app. But couldn't you say the same about an artist who is "too lazy" to use email because they prefer their phone? I mean, email is the standard for business these days. If I'm selling glass, is it cool to ask everyone to download ICQ because I prefer it?

How do you know that a scientific recycler at $150 only represents Cory's cost and has no profit? Did he say that? How many hours does it take for the $150 piece? I don't know, am just curious since you seem to know. I would think if that were the case he would stop talking to Caligula. :p

Also, are you saying that because the pieces are a great value (thanks again @Caligula for locking Cory into a price), that the buyer should expect less professional behavior? Are glass blowers advertising that the reason their pricing is so good is because they suck so bad at communication?

It can be very frustrating when a buyer has to beg through KIK "please take my money" multiple times to get a piece even started. It's not a CGD thing either it happens but some handle it differently than others. An order of mine by another artist became delayed because of a death in their family. Everyone can understand and empathize with that, but what impressed me is he communicated it outright and let folks know individually the wait times (approximately). It was so easy to be patient because I knew the delay was going to be four weeks. That subtle touching of base is important to some customers, as well as a nice finished piece of art.

Edit: I responded here, but this is the perfect kind of discussion for the other thread..

Alright @gigaurora ~ With your instigating comments of my feelings of entitlement, and in spite of the offensive nature of your comment, I'll provide you another thoughtful response:)

I look at it in the same light I see restaurants in any major city. There are far too many new places to go get a bite to eat, rather than returning to a restaurant where I received terrible service.

(Do note I make no comment to food quality, it is simply a service based decision.)

FWIW~ my family goes out to eat every night and I don't care if we paid $8 a person or $50+ per course, as a customer there are certain basic expectations I have when I pay someone my hard earned money.

I am certain you also have certain expectations when you go out to eat as well. I previously typed that last sentence as a rhetorical question; but I rewrote it figuring if I phrase it as a statement, it might limit your otherwise enlightening retorts.

I can appreciate what @FlyingLow is saying and I respect his view that he is perfectly entitled to. We all get to make our own buying decisions based on whatever criteria we choose, and it is certainly NOT up to me to tell him he should think or do something differently.

That being said, my view is nearly opposite his. I neither expect or care if an ARTIST has "good commercial behavior" as one of his skills. I lust for his products specifically for their artistry and function and other than getting what I pay for I would make few demands on the artist. Most artists (or at least many) don't even deal directly with the public, and I suspect partly for this reason. The artists I know are rarely "typical" in behavior or temperament, and often (I believe) that is where their skills come from. Their uniqueness drives their prowess.

I feel the same about a special restaurant and my desire for great food. Of course I prefer better service and if a hamburger place treats me poorly I may never return, but the same is not true (for me) for a "great" restaurant with a unique kitchen and chef. I go there FOR THE FOOD almost exclusively and a bad waitstaff or long wait times will NOT keep me away.

That is how _I_ feel, and neither flyinglow nor anyone else need feel the same. We have to act on our own priorities. Even tho we have different views, I don't think his are wrong, they are just different than mine.

Edit: and @sasNW 's piece above is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. It is just stunning, and if I had a lot of money it would hardly matter what it cost (maybe not literally). And if I could only get it by going out of my way, it wouldn't bother me at all. I would just do it.

Just payed him my $200 US ($221 AUD) and said a big thank you for the wonderful thing he is doing for me and all the other FC members by offering us such amazing prices and quality of craftsmanship.

He said 2 weeks as well which is great. Can not fucking wait to post my piece here. My mental image of it has disappeared. At first I thought I could imagine what I had described to him, but how I have no idea what he is going to create. No expectations will lead to a greater love for it when it arrives!

Nice man! Can't wait to see this thread explode with custom whirlpools!
For me he told me two weeks, which turned into a month just so ya know. But I also made it abundantly clear that I'm in no hurry and to just do his art and I'll get it when I do. I also let him just go for it with only a couple basic guidelines and it turned out sooo much better then I mentally pictured. That's why my ass is not an artist and he is haha. Rushed art will never turn out like the work from a happy relaxed artist IMO.

Now please ups, just give me my recycler!!!!!

Woah Deja Vu. Congrats on 666 post. Lol, just had realized you're from Silent Hill. Or so it says... Anyways, I have contacted Cory but haven't drawn out ideas on what I want my recycler to be like. Glad he got back to me though, I think I'm gonna just pay for some worked features, perhap millis and reversals/wig wags. The man is a great artist. I checked out his instagram and he got some nice pieces up for display.

Hey everyone I was thinking about trying to order a recycler and have a question about joint size.

I see most of you have a 18mm. Why is that? Is it beneficial to get a larger joint? Does 14 not function as well? Does anyone out there have a 14mm female CGD?

Give me some guidance

It's just for the sake of not needing an adaptor for your vape. Some people were calling these a vapecycler or something like that because it's a perfect setup for the larger vapes. It would be a pretty big oil rig IMO, but then again I have a black and white adaptor and dome being made by vapednconfused so I'll use it as an oil rig as well

Cory is easy to work so I would be surprised if he wouldn't do a 14mm if that's what you wanted

Yes I am going to be using this with a E-nano and not oil so I do like the larger size with more diffusion. I already own a gong of every size both male and female thanks to @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd. I just wanted to make sure that I don't fuck up and place an order for something that doesn't function as good as it could.

So just to be clear, both joint sizes function the same?

Would someone who owns a 18mm version be kind enough to drop in a 18/14 reducer and comment on how it changes things

You could always ask Cory himself, I'm a sure he would not make a piece that doesn't function properly. I would be very surprised if the small diameter would make a huge difference though, everyone seems to be reporting easy whirlpools at most water levels. Only difference is a little less airflow:2c:

I will gladly shoot a video for you when mine gets here, Annnnnd a shit ton more:D
