Anyone else do this with BIG BOOKS?

Ok, so I am learning something from a book, this book is over 900 pages, and so the only way I will ever be able to understand it all, and or use the book knowledge is if I can easily look it up in the book when need to. However, because this book is so big, I am taking notes from every chapter so summarize the entire book, well by the time my notes are done it will be just barely under 100 pages. It is so many pages of notes that I have made the decision to make my own book. I have already been given permission by the author to do so.

Everyone here did this happen to anyone else in their life? Say like if they wanted to learn something from a big book of many pages, and the only way to do so was to the point of basically replacing the book entirely with notes that are enough to make a book on their own?

Nope... I have never had the drive to do so.

Wen Wang Gua IChing. Since I am making a book anyway, I use this as a chance to make an about the author section, and throw in all my old art drawings, and lifetime accomplishments, this way I can get those in to a book all in one sweep, even though IChing has nothing to do with the art I made, it is a good way for me to sneak it in there to get it in to a book. When I am done, I will use one of the web sites that make books for money professionally like a real publisher does and keep one copy for myself, then give a free ebook copy to the entire internet, so they can all have my book to. I can even throw in a easy guide to gardening, and a copy of all my unemployment court winnings, where I won against three proven to be lying people in a row.

And wether or not IChing can work or not, I believe my book will at least be the most important book about IChing in the world, because the book I am making to under 100 pages for the world to download for free, is based off the 900 page book, and according to reviews the 900 page book is the best their is of wen wang gua type, but from what I have seen in the reviews, and in forums, although it is the most accurate and best rated book of it kind, no one wants to learn from it because it is too messy, to long, to much. Just to much book. So now with the authors permission and based on how much I have already gotten down, I should be done by end of next month.

This never even started out as a book, I made notes, and then I realized that I was halfway through the 900 book with about 70 pages of notes done. It will take me, about a couple of weeks just sort out all notes.

From what I have read online, many have tried doing what I am doing, but they never finished, or got as far in breaking down the book as well as much I have.

With my art taking up about 20 pages, with 20 drawn pictures. And the about the author section about 4 pages long, I can't wait to finish it. I actually owe the author a thank you for making their book so damn big or I would have never had thought I would have a reason to ever write a book about anything ever. But it is fun.

I'm a pretty copious note taker in my classes, I have many filled up 70-page notebooks floating around. Generally, I don't actually ever go back and read it, because it's the tactile or kinesthetic act of writing that helps me learn, not going back and cramming on it. Recently, I have begin the long process of learning math, and I find that I *am* going back and looking at various notes frequently. I have been considering handmaking a pocket size book with all of the formulas and diagrams and such that I find useful. Aside from the fact that bookbinding is kind of fun, I'm thinking that the process of selecting, organizing, and refining the material will help out my learning as I continue my journey. I would like to see if I can find a binding method in which I can sew in new sections of pages after the fact, so I can add more stuff when I do precalc and calc and such.

I just had to. I never wanted to write a book about this, this is fun but it is work and I am only doing this as a last resort. I mean a book with 900 pages is just to much for the average person to be disciplined with. If someone makes a book better than mine, I welcome it fast, because anything that helps me learn is what I am after, I am not after making a book that is the best of it kind for fame, or glory. Just to make it more easy.
