Been reading a great book on the history of Stax Records (Respect Yourself by R. Gordon), the Memphis-based company that gave us Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, Booker T and the M.G.'s, Rufus and Carla Thomas. So...been spending a lot of time with soul/R&B from the 60's and 70's. What great music...

Figured you guys might enjoy this, I hope it hasn't been posted before. It's Echospace's 2010 album Liumin paired with an onboard cam recording from the Norwegian Nordlandsbanen train.

It's just so relaxing, every time I come across the video I eventually find myself watching it for like half an hour, if not the whole thing. Light up your vapes, gentlemen, and enjoy.

We used to have an event in Detroit back in the 60's and 70's called the Motortown Review. It was a compilation of Motown artists (and some non Motown artists) that toured. I was lucky enough to catch a few of the concerts at the tail end of the touring. Such good music.

My absolute favorite artist was little Stevie Wonder... unbelievable; he was 12 years old when this came out...

Fuck, ain't even thought about Nick Cave in years. Kinda surprised the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork knows of him.
You don't know me very well then...good!:p

Thanks to a docu on Canvas(Belgian TV-channel) on Lemmy this is playing here atm :
Edit : Comment on this 'full' album was correct, there's a bit missing...:

Isaac Hays and David Porter were the songwriting team for most of Sam and Dave's hits at Staxx. They used to stay up all night writing songs, sometimes sleeping under the piano. One night they were having trouble coming up with the right melody and Porter went to the bathroom while Hayes kept trying out different things on the piano, and finally hit on something he liked. He yelled to Porter, who was on the toilet, to hurry up and come back to the piano. Porter yelled back, "Hold on, I'm coming!" and then ran back to the piano, still pulling up his pants, yelling, "That's it!"

The mood has to be high energy, outgoing, or at some outdoor event... and must be elevated for these two... well one of them anyways!

When the mood says Time to Throw Down, then anything by HCWW. (Acclimation and moderation necessary! :o )

If the above two scenarios are not involved, then I can listen to almost anything.

Almost...
