So hard to decide on a portable for flowers! Any insights?

My short list is Pax, Ascent, Cera. I'm open to other suggestions though.

I want something that gives fairly substantial hits of great tasting vapor. I don't care if it's completely stealthy, I'm not going to be using it in public, but do want something I can carry around and whip out and use with minimal fuss. If I can occasionally use it with kif/hash, that's a plus, but mainly want it for buds.

I'm not a real heavy user, so another priority is something that works well with small quantities. Does that eliminate the Pax?

I've read dozens of pages here in the last day or so. I know everything out there has some downsides and users with unhappy experiences. The Cera seems great but is the most expensive, especially with needing batteries. Seems like there a few recent issues with the Ascent's build quality.

I own an Underdog, and couldn't be happier with it. Except it is tethered to an AC outlet. Also had an MFLB, which I found so-so, and also my son lost it and I doubt I'd buy another one.

Thanks FC folks for reading, and for any suggestions.

id say check into the arizer solo, when i was first looking for a good portable, I looked at all your options for myself and ended up scowering the solo fc forum which then led me to buy it. while the other devices are more portable (per say) but still have some bugs. you can find the solo pretty cheap anywhere really, ebay for about 130 from good reputable sellers, and theres always a chance of price match from one of the many online vape sites.

Thanks for the quick reply. I meant to include in my first post that I'd been considering the Solo, but was turned off by the comments about its difficult draw. Is that really a non issue? My wife has kind of weak lungs, so I was concerned about that.

For me I never really found it difficult to draw out of. Some say its like drinking a milkshake, maybe, to me its just vaping. Some peices you just pull differently, for me I like long slow tokes not pulling really all that hard. Produces thick clouds. There are some options if the pulling is really to hard for your wife. Planetvape dot ca has high efficiency stems for the solo which help with draw resistance making it easier for people having difficulties. Then there is always the waterpipe option to make it even better. The solo the way i see it has so many options and is just a solid unit for anywhere and dont forget its made in the Holy land known as Canada

30% off sale at Got Vape, and the Ascent isn't eligible, but the solo is. Tempting......
Maybe I better read the 853 page thread before I commit to anything :)

Or the fact that it has a 853 page thread should tell you that a lot of people like them. ;)

Also no need to start from post 1. The solo had changed over the years. Start maybe 100 pages back?

+1 for solo. don't worry about the draw restriction, it really isn't that bad. As long as you don't fight it and try to suck, the restriction forces you to slow down your draw which is why there is no learning curve for the solo.

Depends on your budget and flavor requirements.

Since you did say you don't think you will buy another MBFL I guess that means flavor is important?

The PAX might be small however I have read were the flavor is similar to a MFLB!

The only practical unit in the portable level would have to be the SOLO.
Just because their cheap you cannot compare them against other options.

I have 2 of them one in each color.

The SOLO is my main driver and I have other vaporizers that I really like.

SOLO with water pipes, dry path are both solid.

Simple and so Basic.

Under $200 with a PA!

Now go do the right thing!

OK then order a SOLO with the PA and add a PHVES (WIFE) Bent or Straight STEM with your order.

Plant Vapes are in CANADA however I live in California and use them as my online store..

Warranty and service are exceptional with them!

You could check out the Pinnacle or pinnacle pro. Tastes great, Works great.

The DaVinci. Works great, tastes ok.

The Solo is a good choice, but not the only one.

I got my PAX used for right at 100 bucks and it was worth EVERY penny. I was glady pay 250 for this unit all day every day. I am very satisfied and love everything about this unit. The taste could be just a little better but what portable isent lacking flavor besides the SOLO? The solo was just too big for my taste as I like to take my vape bike riding, walking, and shopping.

Good points, however OP said:

Solo.

I'd support PV over other retailers because of their presence here (and good prices) but Solos are out of stock. Guess that's a good thing in terms of getting the latest and greatest though.
Y'all have pretty much convinced me on the Solo, but I still need to mull it over....

One last concern, I don't think anyone addressed it in this thread: Solo performs well with small loads?

ataxian- I got the impression that a PA was not necessary with the newest model, did I get that wrong?

Look at Puffitup.com

Best customer service ever IMO, they match PV and sometimes Ebay prices, they are an FC forum sponsor, and they have Solos in stock.

The solo works well with small load too. I cant compare it to other vapes, but im satisfied when doing 50mg loads.

I think that the solo definitely provides thinker hits than the pax. 7 different temperatures was a big factor for me. Very efficient in pulling everything out of the small load. The pax is cool because it has an apple/ipod feel to it. Large load on this one, better for long sessions. The final factor for me is that the solo is much easier to connect to a water pipe. Glass on glass adapters can be found in a couple places.

I'm going to chime in here and also vote for either the Solo or the Ascent ... the Ascent might be a better fit for you based on your needs to hit on the go (ie. bike riding w/ a Solo would be interesting)

The Solo will manage the smaller quantities requirement better whereas the Ascent will handle the portability convenience factor better--maybe you could use both?. (You could pull the Ascent out of your pocket if pre-loaded and start hitting and vape while bike riding but this would be very difficult to achieve w/ the Solo)

Although the taste in the Cera was good ... it's difficult to generate thick clouds, it's very conspicuous in use (looks like your vaping on a vibrator), and runs through batteries at a good pace and gets really hot, and, and, and, ... good idea in my opinion but not there yet for loose leaf vaporization.

If you are considering the Solo, and why wouldn't you, you shall have an overall better experience with the Lotus. More efficient extraction, faster sessions and hits, stronger hits, bigger clouds, better sipper as it doesn't cook the load unless you hit it, better airflow, more durable, longer lasting if you are away from plugs, non stop action if at a party and I can go on all day about pros... Want more? If you don't like lighters, but I can't see why, also check for the new firefly... Similar philosophy to the Lotus but with a battery!

be careful!

natural farmer's enthusiasm about the lotus is contagious :D

no, just kidding... actually it's a relieve, because the enthusiasm is so strong it can even cure the infamous VAS disease that has a firm grip on this little community :)

I am becoming more enthusiastic with the Lotus every fucking day... I have been vaporising for nearly four years now and after lots of spent euros this second version of the little miracle cured my VAS almost completely. I don't even touch my Solo or Hot Pod anymore. The Lotus is one of the few vapes you can get so personal with. It is whatever you want it to be... :)

"but do want something I can carry around and whip out and use with minimal fuss"...

That doesn't describe the Solo IMHO... Solo is a "session" type vaporizer and not something you just carry around...
