.....have to do with anything in this case? The is the most recent headline on CNN. Are they going to try and imply that because Trayvon Martin smoked weed, he deserved to die, or that in some way, it proves that if he was high on weed, it must mean that he was the aggressor. WTF???

What I want to know is, what in the hell is the Judge smoking?

Judge in Zimmerman trial to allow toxicology report showing Trayvon Martin used marijuana. "

Last week, she was adamant about not allowing this. I'd like to know what changed.

And what possible bearing could this have on the case? I don't get it.

"Defense lawyers will be permitted to show that Trayvon Martin had marijuana in his system when he and George Zimmerman had their fateful encounter in a gated community in Florida last year, the judge in Zimmerman's murder trial ruled Monday.
Judge Debra Nelson denied a motion by prosecutors to keep toxicology results showing THC in Martin's system from the jury, paving the way for Zimmerman's lawyers to argue the drug may have influenced the teen's behavior."

I guess there are still those that think that THC will make some people act aggressively like some people do on alcohol. Has anyone ever seen that? I never have.

The prosecution has not made their case at all and have proven nothing beyond anything even resembling a "reasonable doubt". Their "star" witness was a complete disaster, my goodness its like they were working for the defense. If the defense rested now they would win easily, so lets just hope when the acquittal finally comes down there isn't a race riot . . .

My husband and I were saying the same thing last week. It doesn't seem like the state even wants to really prosecute him.

Yeah, but can a toxicology report show that he was high on weed that night? Fucking THC can stay stored in your fat cells for 3 weeks or more.

Good point Iwien. As far as I know, there are no (reliable) tests available yet that can determine if someone is/was "intoxicated" via marijuana. They could possibly be referring to finding it in his bloodstream, which would prove he consumed pot in the past few hours. (I believe it stays in your blood stream for a few hours before metabolizing)
However, just because it is in one's bloodstream does not mean one is "intoxicated." And even if he was... it is still a HUGE jump to claim that made him violent.
I hope the prosecutor nips that one in the bud straight away.
Yup, I used "bud" on purpose. :)

They could say that the marijuana brought on paranoia which made Trayvon Martin act suspiciously.

And then days of testimony about what strain was used; and the effects of indica vs sativa; or the thc ,cbd content and their behavioral influence............or not.

UPDATE: The judge in the George Zimmerman trial ruled that Trayvon Martin’s toxicology report will be allowed in evidence. It shows he had trace amounts of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, in his system. And the jury could hear about it today.

Now, defense is fighting to be able to show the jury an animation of the confrontation between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin.

From what I've heard from friends on probation, there is a test that will tell you how many parts per million or some kind of ratio of THC in your system. Evidently the first couple of times around you can actually have THC present in your system under a certain percentage and pass the test because officials are aware it can stick with you an absurdly long time in heavy users. Granted, this is word of mouth so I'm not claiming 100% accurate information here, but allegedly they have the tech LOL.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who remain uneducated about marijuana's effects, either because they choose to be or because they aren't in a position to be able to educate themselves. A lot of these people (it seems) tend to believe the propaganda (eg Reefer Madness lol). The prosecution didn't want the toxicology report allowed because they said the small amount found in Trayvon's system was insignificant. Even the medical examiner initially said that he thought the amount didn't have an impact on Trayvon's action but then suddenly changed his mind and said it did impact his behavior. WTF?? WHY are you allowed to do that? Why are you allowed to just.. change your mind like that? I say we do some live research here at FC lol.

I won't get much into this, because like Vicki said this thing is a clusterfuck at all ends. But I believe they want to use the toxicology report to further show that he wasn't the cute little boy on a skittles run that the facebook posts portray.

This whole trial has been a clusterfuck. :disgust:

I can say this because I live here, I was raised here and I was born here.

Florida, Florida's laws, and Florida's entire justice system is a cluster fuck. I'm actually on this website illegally right now because we banned computers in the last legislative session.

Since we are on verdict watch . . . I thought the prosecution getting manslaughter included as a lesser charge was a fantastic move. Even better was the diversion, murder 3/aggravated child abuse thing. I know on its face it looked like a last second, preplanned legal dirty trick, and it was :D (I loved it for that reason alone) but for a diversion or a trading chit of sorts it worked, imho, to get manslaughter included, giving the jury a "compromise" which carries a substantial penalty.
