Input or Ideas on Custom Pax by Ploom Carrying Cases

Hello Everyone.

I am looking for some input on a project my wife and I have been working on.

Quick back story:

Being a Pax owner myself, I had my wife make me a carrying case to keep it safe during daily travel. Read a lot on this site and around the web that there was a need for a Pax carrying cases. I decided to put them on ebay for sale a week ago,

and

I have sold a few, but am having a hard time getting feedback on product improvement / design ideas, ebay site design, price, functionality, etc....

More than sales, I really want to make a product for the user, that has a user friendly design and protects our investments. I also want to make sure the price and presentation is right for the buyer.

I am open to any input or suggestions that would help make a good / better case for the Pax. I would really like your input and ideas on what else could be done to improve my ebay site, product presentation, description, and over all product design.

I do not mind negative criticism, I am all for it, if it will help improve the product I am making and providing for Pax owners.

i was looking at this yesterday, nice to know you are a user and FC member.

i do not own a pax , but i plan to very soon.
your product look nice , and not too expensive considering that your wife hand made them.

from what i can see , the top is not covered, wich may result in small dent or scratch if you're not using the pouch.
It also look like the tab is magnetic , wich might be a problem with the PAX electronic components ( i have read somewhere that magnets can turn it on)
also it would be nice to add a little pocket or vial slots , something to carry a small amount of material.

a case/pouch/bag that could handle the pax and the charger could be nice too.

as for the ebay page ,
its kinda hard to understand the options you give ( Color,Design/Finish,Material,Type,Compatible Brand )
make it simpler ; model 1 & model 2.
or make one auction per item if there are so many differences .
choose a basic, free ebay theme on http://www.freeauctiondesigns.com/ .
add photos in the description of the item itself and with the pax in it.

would be perfect with a top snap and a pocket big enough to hold some pre grinded material like francis said.

Thank you for the feed back. We just put one on there that has a full cover. The one in the pic is more for the daily, around the house user. They both have a pretty good use for specific times. The full covered one is what I use for the toss in a bag, backpack, etc.... and go.

We at one point tried magnets....... it does actually turn it on. We went with heavy duty Velcro instead.

It is nice to know you want a pocket on the case itself. We have been thinking about how to do it, but have yet to find a solid way to hold stuff.

Any ideas?

I was wondering if it was difficult to understand. Per your advice, I am going to create separate ebay listings. One for the partial covered case and one for the fully covered case to help separate and highlight the differences.

I am also going to add a note to point out it is Velcro and not magnets.

the link is to a free ebay theme website. but you could look up on google for that.
just add a simple theme , to look more professional and appealing .

you should definatly point out that its velcro , that says alot about you to your buyers.

Ok. I updated to add a note for Velcro, created 2 separate listings and will continue to take input on how to improve. I will research the theme link you sent. I truly appreciate the ideas you are giving to help improve. I am also going to explore the pocket add on and see if it will hold up to everyday wear and tear.

The units we have so far released have gone through a lot of personal daily testing for durability....trust me

I also like the idea of a carrying bag for the charger and pax. Hopefully one of those coming soon...... right now ebay only lets me sell 10 items until I establish a seller rating. I have been trying my hardest to ship within hours, send good follow up emails to buyers, and offer a solid return policy.

I just want happy customers that can help provide input for improvement ideas for their product.

well, count on me for a five star review , i'll buy one when my pax gets in the mail.

You might want to also look into selling on etsy.

It's tailored to handmade products like yours.

Personally, I find a padded pouch with a zipper works best. The padding also helps to soak up some of the smell that the Pax is well known for producing even when not on. Mine reeks with a load of Sour D in there. The zipper keeps everything inside and also helps contain the smell. The padding does not have to be super thick to help keep the pouch slim. The shell can be produced in any material from hemp to exotic leathers and skins. If you could produce something along these lines, I would absolutely purchase.

Cool. Thanks! Just recently went looking around on Etsy. I haven't fully looked into setting up a site yet tho.

I found ebay does a pretty good job of listing all its sites at the top of Bing and Google. Wonder how etsy does for search engine advertising / prioritizing.

Not completely sure where people are looking to buy this type of case for a unit such as Pax.

ebay is the first place i look when i need something , then i look around.

vapor addicts and the such love etsy their interface is easy to set up, use, and buy from!

Though about the zipper option for a long time before final design.

Zipper: Problem that I was thinking of with Zipper is the damage and scratches. I want the carrying case to last a long time and would need to use a heavy duty zipper to withstand daily use. A heavy duty metal zipper would scratch the Pax. A plastic zippers that wouldn't scratch the Pax would eventually fail, break or bind up...... at least in my experience with ones on coats, but that's a whole other topic.....

I figured Velcro has never caused much issue in my life and is very form fitting / flexible. We actually went as far as assembling the cases with the abrasive side of the Velcro on the outside of the case to prevent scratches.

Smell: You would be surprised how much the vinyl material reduces and contains the smell. I am amazed myself how much it keeps the odor down. I find myself asking someone to smell it daily to see if they can tell what's in it. Even the open top case it is hard to smell to the average non user when the mouth piece is up. The sweet smell around the mouth piece is actually all you catch a wiff of with your nose next to it. Not saying it completely eliminates smell, just that I am amazed at how much it helps minimize it.

I will probably make one with a plastic zipper in the future for a little durability / destructive testing. If I ever release one with zipper and padding I will let you know. If you ever want a custom one, you let me know. I would love to build a custom order one.

with something like an elastic band to hold the pax in place .
there would be plenty space for materials , in a pocket inside or something like that.

this would contain the odor too.

the gravy would be a solar panel charger on top of the pouch

I usually just use Bing and let it bring me somewhere. Amazon is my personal favorite, but I found it is not as user friendly to setup a seller account as ebay is.

Hey thanks for the link. signed up last night and started with some basic templates. I am going to work on re designing the ebay site when I get some time. Templates look much nicer.

No joke. I just stood up and my coat zipper is broke. Zipper stuck in the middle of coat.

If you can make a padded zippered pouch w plastic zipper and metal zipper tag and a shell of stingray, give me a holler. I just bought one at a custom knife show for $35, but I could use another.
