ABV in 160 proof vodka?

Hi there...I have around 1 cup of abv sitting in a jar, kind of dark brown in color so I don't know how much actual thc is left in there...if I pour 160 proof vodka over the abv and let it sit for a week, then strain, then reduce the strained vodka, would this make a usable extraction?

Thanks!

Abv alone? no.

yea that should work with ABV alone. however just a points as a heads up,

1) its not entirely necessary for it to sit in for a full week. i would say even a day or two is more than enough.
2) the longer you let it sit for the harder the straining process will be because if you give it say full week as you were planning, the ABV would turn into a sludge-like substance.
3) please be careful while reducing the vodka. i think it goes without saying that it is flammable so mind the distance it is from a heat source and the air flow around the area you are doing the reducing.

Be my guest if you want a week ass sleepy buzz

the OP never specified what type of effect they were looking into. He(or she) was asking if it would make a usable extraction, which it would.

i've used ABV in edibles in the past. put three tablespoons into a milkshake mixture and drank it without really getting any type of foul taste. i drank it at 2pm and was feeling the effects until 10am the next day. it definitely wasn't a 'sleepy' buzz either. real strong, a bit too intense, and definitely lasted way too long for my liking.

so in the end, ABV would make a usable extraction. better to recycle than to toss it out IMO.

Oh, I re use mine. I just don't let it get brown, I also toss a few grams in it from every new bag. The people I offer em to are scared of em

That stoned sleepy buzz is very medicinal for some people. While ABV edibles are not something I normally eat in the day time because IME they are very heavy, sleepy opiate like effect. They work well for anti inflammatory, insomnia, pain relief etc. Saying it will not work just because it's not an effect your looking is mis-information. Not to come off like a dick or anything we just should all be aware that everyone's situation is different. If this was someone with arthritis and insomnia from pain this could be exactly what they need.

Point made, I just like what I mixed up:)

i have totally made this mixture before, except i used everclear. be careful if you are making a big batch cause of the fire hazard!! (i'm restating it, i know, but cant be too careful)
i got little "sample size" perfume bottles with atomizer caps from a wholesaler online and made myself a batch of sub-lingual spray to take around with me.

how well does that sub-lingual spray work Jdog? i've always been curious to make some but was contemplating using glycerine instead.

Your right, and I'm glad you brought that up. People really need to educate themselves as to what they use in their tinctures. Its not so much the steps you go through to put it together, as it is, what you put in it. What I've found is this, as long as you research your ingredients and kind of use common sense, as to, what percent of what you use. You can pretty much make the kind of effect you desire to achieve.

Whatever you do take your time, buy you a solo vaporizer, you can put some fresh in it when you first buy your stuff. Then as your using the other half you add some ABV in it... Do that with about 6-8 bags, as I said research the strains, if you have a choice use 70\30s 80\20s indica\sativa I went with strains like OG, kushberry, Mr Nice Guy, Bluedream

Im not in a mmj state, i get good quality, some of what you listed, but specifically the options arent nearly as diverse regarding %.

Plus, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing in this sense......trying to learn
Ive always used flowers, made kief with a box, or purchased hash when available.

All depends on tincture strength, but it does work. I used a glycerin everclear mix, but I like the dropper, regardless of what you use there's a smell and using a skunk mist NOT COOL.

This has been my experience with sublingual sprays they work and pretty quickly too because of the route of absorbtion. The only tincure i had the wasnt noticeably "flowery" was a tinc made with kief and glycerin then flavored with like a mint oil. It tasted like doublemint gum. I have noticed glycerin tinctures seem to last longer than alcohol. alcohol comes on quicker and seems to dissipates faster. A blend of glycerin and alcohol or propelyne glycol is a good middle ground depending on the effect you were hoping to achieve

I'm currently doing a ABV+ fresh coconut oil infusion... Not sure how it will turn out, because its inside a old bbq but the temp inside that at 10 am was 150....I'm not trying to jack your thread so, getting back on topic. I have 2 qs..1) I read you own a solo, what setting do you use? 2) how many sessions do you use yours before you consider it cashed?....I cash mine after one 12 min session, setting 6...

I'm no expert or anything, but um I'm not in a medical marijuana state either. If your who I think you are, you already know this..... But ya I'm no expert, and the whole percentage thing was strange to me also. So what I did was, use common sense when I put mine together. When I found out the strain name, I would Google it. I would then read how much THC it had, was it sativa or indica? Or in most cases nowadays how much of which? Was it a sleepy high, energetic, creative, etc.... What symptoms did it relieve? Pain, spasms, Bipolar disorder, stress, add, etc.... Then you think in your head hmmmmm, I got allot or a little of these symptoms. I do want energy, not so much that, I can't sleep or my hearts pounding, and you rip off a chunk more or less according to your needs you want to be able to function is your goal, if you just want a buzz that will fuck you up don't waste my time,.,, you can go look that shit up elsewhere:)

Please don't take any offense to what I say, I'm a kind man, but I'm very serious about my medication. And it wouldn't be to logical for me, to help others abuse it. Just saying..

Besides...I don't know how to make one that will mess you up

can you reduce an abv tincture by natural evaporation? [letting it sit uncovered for a while?]

chris 71,

Lo

Combustion free since '09
You can reduce by evaporation - larger surface area and moving air over it does help.

I use a $5.00 candle warmer with many of my tinctures and it works very well also.
