Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

Hey, new user here. I've been lurking for a while, as well as doing research through youtube video reviews and skimming some on other forums, andafter some considerable deliberationthe roommates and I were thinking of placing an order for the Purple Days to help us through the winter months. We'll be cooped up in dormitories, and the notion of having a system that could be plugged in at all hours and double as a legitimate aromatherapy diffuser is pretty appealing (discretion is concern number one.) The PD's reported efficiency and health-conscious construction seal the deal.

I've noticed, though, that there seems to be a bit of a queue in production lately. I'm just wondering what the average wait time has been lately (from time of order to time of delivery) and when we might best place our order (if possible) to arrive around when we get back from holiday break at the end of January.

i currently have a 4 piece chromium crusher grinder which is very good. i was wondering if switching to a two piece would be beneficial in general but especially for use with the PD. Would i be able to get a much finer grind? If so, is there a specific model someone has that you'd recommend? Sorry for posting this here. I looked through the herb grinder section as well as this thread and just couldnt find the specific info i was lookin for because of the giant size of both threads. thanks

Mine came just at about 4 and a half weeks after payment went through! I just got it on Friday.

Order it now, when contacted by Purple-Days, let them know your time frame (eg- not going to be here until X day at the earliest). I had to do that with my 2nd PD to make sure it didn't arrive when I was away on travel.

I just picked up a 2pc 2" Titanium Space case from puffitup.com - it definitely grinds finer than my 4pc Mendo Mulcher, even when I grind the latter upside down. Can't load straws directly from the 2pc easily though, so I dump it on the screen of my 4pc (or more often directly into my MFLB trench which excels with the finer grind). Mixnball, Space Case, Titan, Mendo Mulcher all have a range of 2pc grinders that will do a great job.

I appreciate the knowledge shantytown007. The medium 2 pc space case was actually on the top of my list, but I will give the others a look too. Thanks. For anyone wondering, the Chromium Crusher is also a great 4 pc grinder. THe only reason i'm looking around is to find one that will grind a little finer. Plus i'm not crazy about the idea of a kief screen/collector; its unnecessary and counter-productive imo. I'd rather the kief just stay with the bud and mix on to that.
EDIT I just ordered the SPACE CASE Grinder Magnetic 2 Pc. Medium Titanium from gratefulbuys.com (great deal with discount). If anyone has any questions about its use for the PD shoot me a message and I'll respond after some fair usage.

I got an mail from a buddy who has a PD, was told about chromium on screens by a headshop.

He sent me a video of a Purple Days with the maker having grey / black fingers from the metal
in the vape, is this somehow chromium or what. He didn't touch his PD since he thinks that it is
a bad thing and that he is inhaling it.

I told him it is normal but could somebody tell me what it is and if it is ok

If you choose to avoid all stainless steel products... Like cookware and flatware, that we all eat from and with everyday (I use all 304 Stainless, same stuff), I won't call you crazy... even if you listen to some dude in a head shop...

We have been over stainless steel so many times on this thread . . . people like to bring it up once in a while. It gives me a chance to give the facts...

No camera at the moment, but when Pammy returns I will show the black printing (laser etched) that is on every piece of tubing, giving the material specs. No that's not what the grey color on my hands is.

BTW worried about Chromium? Did you know it is vital to health.

Yes folks, stainless steel oxidizes (rust sorta). This naturally occurring oxidation is CrO3 Trivalent Chromium. Same stuff you can buy on the drug store shelf as a dietary supplement. Hexavalent Chromium is toxic and is CrO6, not CrO3 ... Sorta like Carbon Monoxide (CO) is poison but Carbon Dioxide isn't. Same elements, but quite different molecules and re-activity.

Yes folks, that grey stuff on my hands is oxidized stainless steel. It is trivalent CrO3 an essential human nutrient (along with some Fe3O4).

^^^ yep, snort a big old pile of CrO3 (or even dust from under your bed) and you will have respiratory problems, just a simple fact.

BTW we have shown examples many times and this one recently. We wash all these parts to remove any manufacturing residues... (just in case you missed it)


Like I said, stop using all cookware (better never go out to eat), no stainless flatware (try finding anything else at your local retailer or your silverware drawer), stainless steel cased watches (nearly all) etc, . . . Good luck with that.

Oh and don't drink beer or any other commercial beverage, including bottled water, as it has all been processed in stainless steel.

Wow, Model 14 version 2, Hippie, I gotta stop by and see all the progress you have made recently. Congrats.

I think the crowd has pretty well settled in on the Space Case 2 piece. Me too, but not everyone , I'm sure. Having owned a SC 2pc., and happy with it, we have given a few away as gifts, sure that hard to shop for friends would enjoy them. I believe ours is lost (or given away?) and I'm looking at a Mix-N-Ball 2 pc. which works perfectly too. It doesn't have the magnetic feature but in some ways, even better is the shallow cup, on the underside, to hold fresh ground stuff... Your choice either are good. I'm sure there are others.

The magnetic feature is important. Don't ask me how but countless times I've dropped my grinder mid grind. With my old grinder it was on the floor and wasted. With the spacecase 2pc it holds tight and all is well.

I agree, have done the same, the magnet is a great feature. Though I don't keep ground material in the grinder, there is that occasional slip while grinding a batch . . . yep, it holds together and you stuff doesn't go flying.

Somedays, you need all the help you can get.

I just wanted to add my about this Stainless Steel stuff. As a welder/ fabricator I've worked with SS many many times. SS is used in our everyday lives because it is safe.(certain types that is, it depends on if it is food grade SS or not) The only time u need to be worried about your health from SS is when you weld it or cut it with a plasma cutter. Keep in mind these two processes expose the SS to EXTREME heat(we are talking in the thousands up to tens of thousands degrees Celsius), affecting the SS on a molecular level. If i remember correctly from what i read on the PD website, the vaporizers operating temperature is 194 Celsius...not even close to what is needed for hazardous results.

Thanks for the input. Purple-Days uses all 304 alloy. Early in development we used one part that was 316 (nearly the same, and another food grade alloy), but, for simplicity of description, we found that part in 304. And have used all 304 since.

First time poster and soon to be first time vaper but 30 year smoker... ordered a PD off Tom and a Space Case 2 piece the other day after some research realizing that it would be perfect for my desire for efficiency. Have read the first 27 pages of this thread but it is going to take some work to read the next 9/10. Enjoying the tips and tricks that I have learned already and am looking forward to trying it out. Thanks to everyone for making this appear to be a cool place to hang and to Tom for his artisanship.

Thank you and I ordered the Myrtle... seeing all the Cherry ones has made me reconsider somewhat but I know that I would love it no matter what wood it was made of.

znice choice on the Myrtle wood, jurgenk. Thats what I chose as well. I agree I was a bit tired of seeing so many Cherry units. The best part about the Myrtle is that each one is a bit different. check the last few pages for a pic of mine, pretty clean and mine isnt that dark, still beautiful

Buzz Butter smells nice on my warmed up PD. I must take precaution as not to run out of my little tin!

Can you guys let me know the best way to apply Buzz Butter?

I apply the Buzz Butter to a warm PD and wipe away/in with a clean cotton cloth rag. I've just used my fingers in the past as well.

Resting the tin of Buzz Butter on top of a warm PD for a few minutes also makes it a little easier to work with.
