I did get it, about a week ago.. it finally showed up.

I've only messed with it a couple times but it seems to work well so far. I'll give you a bit more info once I've had a chance to play some more.

I am just scared something will go wrong and water will go right into the core which is plugged in :/

Hmmm I never thought about that before.. gee thanks darkrom. After messing with it a bit I'd say you'd have to blow through it pretty decently to get the water out and into the UD.

been awhile since i stopped in here, hope everyone is doing well, i got some reading to catch up on.

the tortuga and the twig are going strong, no issues with either of these pups, though the twig has been getting a lot more use and has become my daily driver in addition to my oil rig.

Hey stroh, haven't seen you around in a while.. good to hear your UD's are still taking care of business. You got any more UD video's in the works or have we seen them all? I got your old Goblet back up and running with a 24/7 core and I think it hits harder than before.. :brow:

It is designed to work that way, I've just never held one in person. Got a pic of how you connect it by chance? If not how about a description and I'll put my mind to work. Wish I had the cash to get one, or get started on the twig fund. I will send that material along with the lead buddy I mentioned lol.

I've been super busy in the shop working on making revised cores for the Twig batch and also to retrofit some of the catalog pieces.. very time consuming!

I don't have a pic of how I connected it but it was simple. I loaded the glass with water, loaded a thin silicone stem with herb then attached it to the bottom of the glass then the stem to the UD. I used another piece of silicone to make a whip attached to the top of the glass and presto, cooool vapor.

Sounds simple. Were you using it with a 3/8 core by chance? How big is the aqua vape if you got the smaller one? Im wondering if it works with 3/8 and not 1/4 or is it the opposite?

It was very simple. I'm using the smaller 5" AV (the larger one is 8") but both have 3/8" tips on top and bottom ends of the glass so the 3/8" core tubing fits on nicely. Not sure how one could attach 1/4" tubing but it could probably be done somehow.

Yeah that is great news for me but a bummer if anyone wanted this and a 1/4.

Are there silicone tubes that go from 1/4 to 3/8? This will probably be my water solution if you are enjoying it so far.

I've never seen tubing with different sized ends so I'd imagine some kind of adapter would have to be used. I'm so impressed with this revised core that I might well phase the 1/4" core out altogether and only have the one 3/8" model. Time will tell I suppose.. ;)

fwiw i wouldnt phase out the 1/4", i love mine granted i havent tried out the 3/8" core yet....can you make the same improvements to the 1/4" core that you did to the 3/8 core?

I haven't tried making the improvements to the 1/4" core yet but it's on my list of things to do for sure. We'll see how it goes...

dave im not trying to be a "fanboy" or anything like that but i love my 1/4" core :brow: its efficient, and i can get some really nice tasty big clouds out of it. its a great vape and i honestly dont want to think of life without my UD, this has become my motivation to get another pup lol. my bday UD is my first log styled vape but it has taken the place of my ssv(lent out) and my LB(resting in a draw, probably will get lent out as well).

i cant speak for everyone else who has a 1/4" core but i am totally happy with mine and tbh i am quite blown away by how good it is and how much i actually dig it. i think people are gonna naturally go for the 3/8 core because we tend to think more is better which is not always the case.

can you make some 1/4" core twigs or something simple for a low price or maybe run another special sometime in the next couple of months? i mean just to get them out into circulation so that more people can see that this lil core can stand on its own and deliver. :2c:

I for one will be happy to wait for an improved 1/4" core. I agree the B-day vape rocks. I would just feel more comfortable if I knew it could be safely left on 24/7. I think 20 hours is the longest mine has been on.

@ los & cluffy - I'll definitely be looking into making the same (or similar) improvements in the 1/4" core as I do like the little guy too. I'll be running the batch of Twigs here in the next week or two which is kind of a special. I may also make some limited edition x-mas pieces.

@cluffy: I have left mine on for 3 days at a time, and only thing I have noticed is a slight darkening of the wood around the core. Other than that, I have not seen any major problems from leaving it on too long. I would just grab a outlet timer and set it right before you wake up and go to bed. Should be able to tune that down and not have to worry too much.

But either way, I do agree... I cant wait for the new twig with larger core that can be left on 24/7. Its going to be a killer combo.

I am STILL waiting for my order from mcmaster. Its getting close to two weeks now. Also pretty shocked that I got charged $10+ for shipping on 4 feet of tube and a 12x12 sheet of screen. Either way, I cant wait to make some more custom HIGH END stems. I have all different lengths I have been testing with the cheaper stuff I got from Dave. I have finally found a length that is almost perfect. My tubes are 1.75 inches long and from the screen to the tip its about 1.25 inches. Basically this size gets me 3 large hits in the bubbler with perfect browning of the material. The shorter ones I was using at first were getting almost too dark. Ill do some new pictures and videos real soon. Any requests let me know.

the underdog videos are not over just yet, but i have yet to pull satisfactory clouds from the tortuga on camera. will play around with it some more come the weekend when i can restock on goodies. i suppose a twig video could be done, especially in lieu of the new ubertwigs, but i feel its sort of misleading due to the different core sizes, and the twig is a rather plain jane compared to the tortuga. either way i will figure something out.

I think there is just sooo much mass there with the Tortuga piece that it probably runs a bit cooler which would explain the lackluster clouds.. what do you think stroh?

The Tupelo Goblet is running hot and heavy now with the new core.. coughingly thick clouds of vapory goodness! :brow:

Flat tire and some engine knock :( today is NOT the day for a tolerance break. Seems like every day there are new excuses to never take a break.

As said to Dave yesterday...We have received our UD B-Day 10 days ago, but as it is at my associate's place, I've used it only twice and can't do a "serious" and objective review with such a little testing/using phase. As soon as this WE I'll take it home and report!

Darkrom, the AV is a great add-on for any "siliconed" vape IMO... No dripping, that's the concept! ;) BTW, 7th floor VTs are great (cause "dry") but there is some sort of condensation on the glass coil walls and this will drip from time to time in the core!;) This is not a problem at all with an SSV as the whip length will prevent this drop to reach the wand but might be a problem with the UD's stem shortness!

Where is the best place to get an aqua vape? I'd like to order soon but I'd rather not wait forever like Dave had to.

Gotta see if I need a new tire too. TGIF

Yes there is condensation, but it's fine if you just remove the stem from the VT every time. The VT will only drip if you leave it out for too long. I like to take a few good rips then put it right back in the freezer so it's ready to go again in 1/2 hour or so!

Yes I know Cluffy...just comparing 2 tools in a similar usage pattern... I love the VTs, but I really think the AV has some BIG pro's too!

So, to make it more "readable" :
With the UD, you'll have to refreeze your VT frequently or have 2 to get cooled vapor for a long time with no dripping at all on the core,

VS.

With the AV you won't get any drop ever in the core and your vapor will always be moist, not always cool but always moist...

@Darkrom, I would buy my AV from the manufacturer... : http://vaporfection.com/products/
WTF?? 2 sizes now for the AV??? I wonder if I have the small or the large one!

Will report on the UD too soon.

Got to try it quickly last week and really enjoyed to finally try a logvape...and not any logvape !

Just wanted to ad, that I personnaly prefer a VT over an AV for one reason, a little more flavour with the VT due to no water.
Also wanted to ad that I never got condensation with my VT on my LSV, but I remove the VT in between hits....as I always do anyhow cause I don't like percolation.

@ FLskwat: I just didn't want anybody to get scared away. I'd try an AV but I have a bong. I'm sure the AV works great and it's a good match for a log vape.

Back to the Underdog, I've gone back to using her all the time. I thought I was going to just use the not quite done ABV from my Rockzap for edibles etc., but that last hit or 2 in the UD is worth it!!!! :ko:

The old UD is getting out there thanks in part to all you guys and gals who lurk, read and post here on FC.. thanks!

Maybe in a few more months we'll have UDs on all the continents, that'd be a kick!

Dave do you think the AV is worth it? How's it treating you?

I think it's definitely worth the $50 I paid for it (the small one) directly from the company, I think some other places sell it for a marked up price but then again maybe they also get it to you in less than 2 weeks haha. That being said I highly doubt I'll use it often since I usually just vape a bit before bed and the straight vapor doesn't really bother me. I might drag it out on special occasions or something though just for the joy of glass. Oh speaking of glass it seems to be a decent bit of glass, thicker and heavier duty than I expected it to be which was a nice surprise.

The small one is 5" from end to end and the larger one is 8" end to end, both have 3/8" ends for tubing connection. This is the info the manufacturer gave me anyways and seems to match up to my piece. :peace:
