Discontinued Hopper io

Great news for you! What email if I might ask? I know this is the I/O thread but I am now getting zero response it’s about my OG titanium

I posted another question on my OG RMA thread on the old site over a week ago and have had no response yet also.

Nearly 20 months waiting for an RMA turn around on a premium device is bonkers :/

Support@thehopper.io responded to my email within 15 minutes yesterday.

My SS io preordered on 11/29 was promised to be shipped within the next 7 days. We shall see.

By the way, you may remember they offered the option to reserve unique serial numbers to very early preorders. That offer has been revoked at this time according to their response yesterday. Would have been cool and was one of the reasons I popped so early. I’ll probably end up selling the io unused at this point. My Ti OG back from RMA since 11/19 with the @maxvapor710 ac adapter is everything and more I need in a hopper.

Interesting. I asked about reserving a number when the IO was first offered and Inwas told they can’t do that.

It's amazing how accurate hopperlabs is at continuously passing their estimated time of anything lol
I would say they are neither accurate nor precise with time estimates.

The closest to the target would be the Hopper io, some people received it a month before the scheduled release of April, it seems it was actually ready early but there were no batteries available. They should be shipping by now so the Hopper io was just a little late. In the center ring you have the Grasshopper and batteries which have both been subject to delays long past the estimated shipping dates. The outer ring would be the unreleased accessories such as the external battery charger and steel case. A more accurate representation might have them displayed outside of the target completely.

Here's a kick-off thread for Hopper io the new iteration of original Grasshopper, being released into the wild as this new FC is also kicking off to a new start. The og thread was here: Hopper io

We hope that old FC member (and manufacturer) "Hopper Labs" will be ringing in to give the new product a proper introduction and description. I hope he gets here early enough to represent and do justice to the time and hard work the boys at the Labs have put in.

I can reveal with a high degree of certainty that the "io" stands for "instant on" but other than that I'll let other, more enthusiastic fans ring in.

Thanks for this new forum, it's greatly appreciated. I just hope that HL will embrace this forum and provide at least a weekly news update with information we all can rely upon. I am a huge fan of the OG, and hopefully the IO will delight as well when it finally arrives. But communication with/from HL truly has become problematic. A lifetime product warranty is a great concept, but it's valuable only to the extent that customers receive timely information and service when needed. HL product shipment promise dates come and go without much in the way of updates from HL. I know there was fire, and I know that the global pandemic has been crippling and that maintaining staffing is challenging. But with just one HL staff member reaching out to us on a regular basis, this forum can be a very positive and supportive environment for HL, and not just a repository for endless complaints. HL has developed, IMHO, the very best portable vape device there is, but they sorely test our good faith and endurance. Please, let there be light!!

I am trying tonwait patiently for the colored ones to be available.

I got an email response from the company a few days ago about the release of the Ti colored Hopper io and was told that the reason they are still delayed is because the company that does their anodizing is closed right now due to covid-19 so there is no exact timeline for it. Alas, I am choosing to remain waiting as well. At this point it's no different than not having one. Just trying not to think about it!

Dope Gun™ IO is here. Didn't get tracking and HL website still shows order status as "In Progress". Surprised and on the charger. Will report back later!
Damn I ordered a few weeks ago and Emailed last week to cancle but they reassured me it was packed and ready to ship. Mine also is marked in progress hopefully I get it soon but my heart goes out to everyone waiting years !

Yes it was USPS Priority Mail

420edc, Great to hear! What was your order date?
Late December

The battery is a GHB2 which I'm wondering is just the use of those wraps on what should be GHB3 nomenclature, and perhaps since this was a sample run of the battery if there will be a different wrap for the mass production run coming next month? Or will they just keep using the GHB2 wraps until they are gone. Guess only Hopper Labs would have the answer to this ?

There were extra batteries in the order but only got one inside the device. Hoping they get the battery situation behind them as time progresses, just shipping them separate is a hit in the wallet, but if you got a shortage of them and folks lined up for IOs, I get that too.

Doesn't seem to be too much longer for anyone still waiting on a SS or Ti (non-anodized) Hopper IO. Hope you all get yours soon!! Stay safe & healthy folks.

I had been under the impression that HL would fill IO pre-orders first before shipping new orders. I placed a pre-order for a Ti unit in November and paid the balance in full in March, but I am still waiting for delivery. Has anyone received a new IO with battery that was NOT a pre-order?

On Dec 20th '20, in oldFC, Hopper Labs said, "The cell with be a new revision, GHB3 with some internal improvements but same can size."

I really doubt they're just using up labels (the wrong ones?). I think you probably got what it says. Seems odd.

That was my distinct impression, too.

No one has waited years for a Hopper-io. Pre-ordering just began, like, last fall.
Some have waited years for their Grasshopper to come back from warranty service, but not for an io order. ;)

Thanks for the info @420edc, I was going to ask if your battery was labeled GHB3 and how many you received. It’s unfortunate there aren’t more batteries available, it does seem like HL is trying to ration them out fairly. Has anyone out there received any replacement batteries for the batch that was recalled?

Still a bit suspicious to me when HL poster their battery pic of a recent box with them in it and one sitting on top, laid out yet no markings displayed. “GHB3” may be a designation in name only. I hope not though, that would be stupid. But stupid is as stupid does and HL tends to do it their way. The batteries are for everyone, IO and Grasshopper owners (I’m the latter category with obvious battery anger issues and waiting over a year for new ones). Without ‘em, why bother? Hopefully soon we’ll have ‘em - for EVERYONE. :peace:

That’s exactly what I was thinking, @Vaporific, I know you’re waiting on five of the new batteries. I thought the pic was strange at first but that pic was posted when the shipment was first headed our way, it may have been taken by the factory in China and not HL, the factory would have no reason to hide or highlight the GHB3 designation. Also, it’s supposed to be a new factory and the picture is very different from the last shipment which would fit in with a new factory producing the battery. Disclaimer: this is just optimistic speculation. :twocents:
