Nomad Cooling Stems

Hey all, I have worked with @mistvaporizer to help develop some cooling stem options. The current iteration is a beaded stem with wood mouthpiece and the mouthpiece can be made from various wood species. Really gorgeous:

This said, I am currently trying to have some nippled glass stems made for the Nomad. I imagine others might be looking for stem options and felt that this deserved its own thread.

I think this is also a good way for others to share opinions on what they might want in a cooling stem as well and also help @mistvaporizer centralize feedback. I appreciate him for making these so saving him some time would be nice.

Has anyone here tried MV's cooling stem with the Nomad and if so please comment on how well it cools and whether it creates much in the way of draw resistance?

And to clarify, @mistvaporizer , is your MP below designed for the Nomad beaded stem?

In my experience, using beads will create more draw resistance. Furthermore by decreasing the ID of the top end of the stem via the MP, it effectively increase the draw resistance a little more as well. I personally prefer this since such a slow draw is required with a low heater.

This MP is not designed for the Nomad. It seems to be designed for the Imp.

The ones designed for the Nomad has been modified to extend the portion that is inserted into the glass stem. This is done so that the o-rings can be positioned low enough to be concealed by the color.

When it comes to the shape and wood species of the MP, I imagine that @mistvaporizer might be able to work with you on that. He's super easy to work with.

The standard imp stem fits the nomad

Thanks, I guess I wasn't aware you made a MP for the DV cooling stems. I think maybe I'll "need" to pick one up there soon!

Also, if I understand correctly, you have not yet made a DV-style MP for the Nomad?

And I hope you don't mind too terribly much that I may have outed you as a Senior Citizen? Well, as one wise prophet, Hans Solo, once said, "It's not the years, it's the mileage!" :myday:

First prototype arrives next week. @flammy provided the dimensions for the Nomad 1, thanks for the idea.
Dan and I talked and he shared dimensions for the Nomad 2. The o ring placement is slightly different so i will try to do the next proto so it fits both

Hi all, I recently received the beta cooling stem from @mistvaporizer. I can confirm that it both fits and functions very well. I am able to pick up the Nomad by the stem and gently shake without any movement. That said, removal is by no means difficult. Basically the same action as the the included stems. Here is the bonus...as previusly mentioned, @Dan Morrison stepped in and provided measurements for the Nomad II. This stem is compatible with the Nomad I and the up and coming Nomad II.

Thanks @mistvaporizer for trying this idea out. I am definitely buying some. You can order now but be patient as this is his first production run so it will be about 2-3 weeks before he gets them in hand.

I will try to come back and post pics with it inserted into my Nomad.

And now I’m curious if it makes a needed difference, or if it’s just fun...

I don’t remember reading reviews that the vapor needs cooling with the Nomad.

Prior to asking to have these made, I used my @mistvaporizer beaded stems and prior to that my own DIY cooling stem with beads. Compared to other unregulated devices that I've used, I think the Nomad is much more tolerable from a heat standpoint but if I can tame the vapor further without compromising form factor, I will. Whether it's needed is wholly subjective and while it does look different, that doesn't register for me when it comes to whether I will use it or buy more. I won't say that it's absolutely needed but I will say that it works and the vapor is cooler as a result. For the $20 asking, I think it's a reasonable upgrade.
