XMax Starry going out, what vape to go to from here?

I bought the Xmax Starry about a year ago. 6 months into having it, I started having an issue where the battery door is messed up somehow and the battery only makes a connection if you apply force. I warrantied it, and now it's happened again. Instead of paying another $30 for the warranty, I'm just going to buy a new vape. I need some suggestions.

Despite the design flaw, I love everything else about the Starry. Removable battery, very sturdy (until it's not), temperature select, all of these things are essential to me. I also liked the price. I'm looking to spend hopefully under $100. Maybe a tad more.

So what portable vapes that fit this description would you recommend?

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
And if you don’t want to spend that much, there are still some Fury 2’s out there for less. (puff it up has them for $109 + use their code on home page for more discount)
Neither the Fury Edge nor Fury 2 have a removable battery - but in that price point, (and even higher!) the Fury(s) will not disappoint.

+1 on the Fury 2 or Edge, based on your need for length of battery charge or stealth.

I don't know if your flower herb only, but the Terp Pen by Boundless has been a lot of fun lately for a mere $25 on sale at PIU. You gotta have a concentrate supply though.

I would still contact Starry and talk to them about this warranty issue. Seems this should have lasted longer than it did.

If you don’t mind a different form factor and can flex a little with your cash, you could still pick up a Splinter v1 for 60 dollars, or a Splinter v2 for 70 bucks. You could pair that with a dna250 mod in the 60-70 dollar range.

this of course depends on how far you’re willing to flex above $100. It’s quite a jump in performance.

There are some good suggestions above, but I have to point out that most of the good stuff is both more expensive and worth the extra money.

If you spend $200-300 you’ll probably have a better performing, better tasting device for several years or more instead of having to repair or replace it often, spending more time and money over those years than if you’d just got something solid to start with.

Another option you can get for less than $100 that will last though is a VapCap. They do require heating with a torch or buying an extra electric heater like the Beast from Mistvape or an Induction Heater like the Flux Deluxe or the Portside Mini though. There are other heater options too, if you don’t like torches.

If you want to spend the extra money though, your options do open up considerably.

I had that issue with an almost-new Starry. Fold up a piece of aluminum foil to a thickness that works, and problem solved. Edit to state what was obvious to me prior: Put the foil between the battery and door to achieve a tighter fit.

But, I tended to forget about it and the foil would drop out when I reopened the battery door. On a couple of occasions I was SOL until I got back to a kitchen. Ha. Also, various batteries called for different thicknesses, so if possible use a wider piece of foil that can be folded again for another battery if needed.

I liked my Starry but gifted it on the spur of the moment to someone in need... and it was an excuse to upgrade. Loving my Mighty! Hybrid heating is the way to go with a replacement vape if you can.

You might do well at black friday there will be a thread on here with deals.
I would also keep an eye for retailer outlet deals on units like Boundless Tera (for bong), 2017 Crafty, and the Arizer units have also become more reasonable too. Along with those suggested above.
Outside my own experience, I should mention Stickybricks and glass/quartz Elev8r too for great torch vapes on a budget.

Don't know if you're open to a cheap or secondhand desktop either but Id recommend it!
Enjoy your new device.
