Bong/Bubbler assistance

It's been a very depressing 14 hours for me; last night I was cleaning my SYN beaker vaked and managed to drop it 2.5 ft., shattering the glass everywhere. Naturally I have been spending my morning @ work looking for a replacement and had a question for the glass collectors here on the site. After using both bubblers and bongs, which would you consider more preferable, and why? Some of these high end bubblers not only look great but the pictures of them in action show really incredible images of the bubbles stacking. After spending some time reading the forums I notice many people say the diffusion is unnecessary for vaping, curious to know more people's thoughts. My SYN only had ice pinches but I had a showerhead diff and I thought that was considerably smooth. Any input will be much appreciated.

I always try to go for function before form.
There is tons of art glass out there but I don't even know if I would use such a nice piece.

Even if diffusion adds no more purification of the smoke, usually it will be a smoother hit and with the newer showerhead diffusers I hear there is almost no drag. This would make it a nicer hit imo.
But I do not own any diffused piece at the moment so take from it what you want.

My personal preference is usually bubblers because they're easier to use with a vape IMO. They hold a smaller volume of air so its easy to fill them up and clear them in 1 hit, and small size makes them easier to sit back and use. Of course, my experience has been with using them with 7th Floor vapes, if i had a VHW or something I doubt i would feel the same way lol.

If i was going to buy a new glass piece, i would probably hit up Glasstafarian on Etsy for a bub.

Sorry to hear that. I have a 12" beaker from SSFG on Etsy with a shower-head diffuser. Find the size right for my EQV. Lots of bubbles, very little drag. Also agree with Steiner re Glasstafarian.

Thanks for the tips, I emailed Glasstafarian and we will see what he can do. If nothing pans out with him I will probably go with this Ben Wilson bubbler:

Thank you. That thing is a beauty but seems a little expensive.....altho its one of the nicest, for my needs, that I have seen. I am in the market for a nice glass bubbler. I had many, many bongs over the years as that was my preferred method for smoking. I sold them after getting my vapes but now want a nice bubbler for vaping. I have never owned a bubbler before and looking around there seems to be soooo many to choose from. Hard to make a decision. I used to just go to the head shop and buy something I loved but now with the internet the head shop prices are nuts.......so still looking and this one is a contender. Anyone here use one with a vape?

I don't have that particular bubbler but I have a 6-Arm Luke Wilson downstem (probably the same thing as that one but mine is removable) in my Sheldon Black bub and love it. The Wilsons are known for their trees

Get the water level right and the bubbles stack like crazy and milks quickly.

Thanks for the reply. I may go with the Wilson.

IMO there's no need to get super fancy with vapor. A pipe like say a triple-perc Hi-Si is going to probably rip awesome when you're smoking a bowl, but if you're just vaping through a pipe to moisturize the air, you don't really need all those complex pathways. It'll just be that much more vapor you're losing to condensation and that much more to clean (and spend money on). Again, I haven't tried it, but I can't imagine it being much different.

PS: This is based on using the Vriptech and Volcano. With the volcano I don't overpack the bowl and so the bag is not inflated super dense. I can't comment on how extra filtering/percs would affect extremely dense (and therefore harsher) vapor as I usually do not vape this way. I know stonemonkey has a pipe like this that he uses with the VHW, so maybe he can comment on if that makes any difference when compared with simpler pipe designs.

I've never found the need to go with more than one chamber when vaping (only tried it a couple times at a friend's with his bong/ash-catcher set-up). In my experience/choices investing in a nice piece isn't for more volume but for a different type of diffusion or feel of hit. Ultimately and only from what I've been able to experience on my own I like a relatively small (low volume) piece with enough diffusion to smooth the hit (trees or showerhead in my case) properly, I know I haven't met my limit in terms of over-diffusion yet

might wanna pull the trigger on this before i do... :ko: been eyein that piece myself.

im gonna go ahead and post this up in this thread also because ive been enjoying it so much. for use with whips is awesome. and its spillproof. IMO close to being the perfect daily driver.

ive got a 12" left coast beaker w/ diffystem and pinches and i love it, but its more work than i wanna deal with everyday. plus if its tipped over it will spill. its a great piece tho. ive also been looking into mini beakers as being a viable daily option.

then i got to where i wanted a bubbler, but not something that was 10-12" tall. more like 6-8"... which led me to looking at ashcatchers. some of these seem like the perfect handheld solution w/out using a whip, but they all have that ground glass connection pointing down. you can get a mouthpiece to couple to it, but then youd need a clip and all that...

so now im thinking about finding an ashcatcher of my choice and going to etsy to see if any of the artists there can make it, but with a humble mouthpiece instead of the GG connection.

lets keep this thread goin. my interest for glass has gone up significantly lately and i blame it almost completely on stonemonkey and his blasted hydratubes!!! ;)

^^^that thing looks sick, but i can see it rolling off the table.

i coil the whip and place it in the loop if you will

the tubing keeps it from rolling even when not coiled up
