I would love to be a grower or better financially fit so that I could stay in the lower temps more, but my finances lead me to try and get the most out of my goods. The biggest downside to that is getting the most means more high temp hits that are more sedating then I like. On top of that my guy tends to mostly get Indicas which adds to that same issue.
I am really looking forward to legal Rec here (if it really happens), as that should provide me with a lot more variety than just what my guy likes best.

Yeah, my dispensary card was a game changer because the recreational selection is way too indica heavy for my taste. I'd rather stick to hybrids unless it's pretty near bedtime. It's OT for this thread but if I were in your situation I'd be checking weedmaps or the like for someone with a more varied selection.

I do love how much control we get with our Splinter/dna combos. Varying wattage, temps, and strains is all you need to stay right on top of whatever dosage you're after.

One thing I like to do that I picked up from the original Zion beta testing, is you add a little fresh layer on top once the load is a little cooked and more compacted. Works especially well when you start with a half pack so then you can add a full half of fresh flavor!

Also, living in such a thriving state as California, there are probably too many options and variables honestly lol I have way too many strains, sativa indica hybrid, on top of all the different vapes, then you got different levels of extraction and how you load (not to mention mixing em for fun) It can become a little overwhelming recreationally and probably hinders my medicinal use...

I like that reloading idea. I’ve been keeping multiple (as in 2) stems loaded with different strains and switching them around between the Milaana, the Z, and the Splinter. It’s fun.

I couldn't get quoting to work once I'd posted, but this was in response to @Shit Snacks idea of adding fresh material over a partially vaped bowl.

Last night while trying to remove an xl8r stem from my Splinter V1 the glass on the V1 cracked really badly.

I bought it from Ryan and Stepanie on Jan 8.

I have been extra careful with the thin glass, but the V1 is still useless.

Anyone else with broken glass?

I’m sorry to hear that! Did you twist the stem while it was in the body? Even to just get it in and out? I know vgoodiez recommends rocking the stem back and forth to get it out to protect the glass.

I wonder, Could there be an alternate material to glass for receiving/holding the stem? Seems like the stem (if anything) should be the sacrificial part, breaking first and sparing the receptor. I am very fond of glass in these vapes, but, how could it be made a little more robust?

I was gently rocking when I heard a crack...

On my Milaana the glass appears to be surrounded in Wood. Here there did not seem to have too much support.

My OG Splinter was ruined when a stem broke in the glass fitting. Now my V1 is gone.

Are these things supposed to be disposable?

FYI, I vape less than 1/2 gram a day (mostly control pain with tinctures and "RSO" caps) and I have more than a few vapes, so it was not abused or "overworked".

That's a drag man. My Splinters don't get as much use as yours and I try to baby them but still worry a bit about just that sort of thing. I had one glass joint break soon ever getting my first V1 and it was within the window for a replacement thank goodness.

I've been wondering if a more portable 510 will enter my life at some point because it's my only knock on the Splinter lineup.

In unrelated news I came to share a few abv pix from the V1/Paranormal combo. I used wattage for this less than full, lightly packed bowl of Green Love Potion from 32 to 37W.

The pix are after the penultimate hit and then after one final thirteen second hit. I stirred once at some point earlier. Maybe six hits total, I would have counted if I'd intended to share.

I have only done flower with my Splinters so can't really tell you. I imagine you can get enough heat but I would tend to use it pointing down to avoid getting any rosin past the heater screen which would not be good.

My brand new Splinter v1+ arrives today, I think its the chinese version because cost much less 76GBP. Without use the screen at middle bottom looks like had some soldering or I dont know what is it, is it normal for a brand new Splinter, safe to use it?

That is indeed Chinese, and the spot is indeed normal, used to hold screens in place during manufacturing. It is simply melted stainless steel, nothing to worry about! Oh and use tinypic for simple image posting btw, imgur banned us

Thanks guys, I'm eagerly waiting to try after work :) Its had to replace a SB Mighty as a home portable. At first will be using with a cheap Dabstorm box mod, and later buy a better one with TC or TCR if worth it and easier use for my wife. What is the best mod for TC, TCR? I dont like the Wismec Relaux RX3 looking, the Paranormal DNA 75 and 250c a little bit expensive. I likes the Smoant Naboo big touch screen, I read it somewhere Smoant TC and TCR working really good out of the box with the splinter. Is it worth the money and time to tinker with a DNA mod?Maybe later I want a Sai, now barely using a Linx Hypnos Zero. What I likes now is a Vapexhale Cloud Evo, Dynavaps: nonavong, black 2018M with Ti tip and Ti spinning mp. Mighty is real good but expensive and boring after time, so I sold it to a friend. Does Eleaf or Joyetech produce some good mod for TCR ?

Should be plenty easy to use in wattage mode, that is how it was intended. To set up TC on any mod you will have to tinker settings to get it working right. DNA mods actually make this simpler, bc you can just use Herbie's profile for the Splinter where he already did the settings for you. Though none work with TC out of the box really since they're ecig based...

Yeah I read a lot about it. If you had to choose one mod for your Splinter, maybe plannig to getting a Sai later, which one you choose?

I need one with the shorter end, to fit a Splinter V1 (I think that means 18mm long as opposed to 22?).

I believe he has 18-18 connectors but he also definitely carries the Ed’s stems that fit into a 14mm female perfectly.
