Hi, I'm new and I'm impressed with the forum because of so much shared information. I just bought a Splinter v + and I have some doubts. I have two box mod one is a Hotcig Dx75 and a Yihi 530 is ready to work with the Splinter.

Hi and welcome! What exactly are you concerned with?

I think either of those mods would work just fine. For me I would tend to use the Hotcig in Temp Control mode with it's DNA chip, and the Yihi in wattage mode. I haven't used either of these, but that is what their specs would suggest to me.

Those of you using rimless screens in Splinter, what are you using and where are you getting them? I just received my 14mm rimless screens from DDAVE MODS and they are not working as I hoped. The opening in the Splinter stem base is about 11.5mm and tapers open to about 14-15mm at the step. I can (with difficulty) crush the screen into a smaller diameter basket but once it's past opening it just falls through to step in mouthpiece and becomes a little loose. I was hoping to get a little more capacity as the stock basket only holds a tiny amount...about 4 GOOD hits and it's pretty much done and time to reload.

Then it works with the two one is 75w and the other 200w.
The yihi also has temperature control. What is the best configuration?

Well you'll need to tell us. So far all YiHi reports were negative due to the built-in dry hit detection thing, but there are several board variants so YMMV? If it works in either mode that would be interesting to know, but I'm not holding my breath.

It is useful to consider that nearly all these mods, maybe all at this point, are intended to be used as ECig mods, using eliquids not dry herbs, and we are using them completely differently. Due to that the instructions from the vendors and reviews by third parties tend to not be directly useful unless they refer specifically to dry herbs.
You are likely to find much better info in here or other cannabis forums that from the ecig world or even, in most cases, from the vendors themselves.

Sorry for the language is that I am from Spain and I do not know much English!

Is there any way made for DNA as for the wismec?

I am using a rimless screen (from DDave) plus a top hat for my spinter/milaana but I'm using his cooling stem. I haven't tried this with other stems yet.

I'm not sure what you are asking but Wismec is a Mod vendor who sells many different models. DNA is a chip maker and their chips are inside some of the mods of many mod vendors, including Wismec and HCigar, and also apparently Hotcig.

And BTW, as a matter of knowledge about this stuff, if I say something that disagrees with something @KeroZen says, the odds are that Kero is right and I am wrong. Just sayin... :)

Oops...

Sorry but I was distracted and didn't have chance to look up the second mod. That said, I agree with @cybrguy. Both will work but you may want to use the DNA mod for temp control since that board handles temp regulation better.

Good luck getting much agreement on either one of those variables as everyone has different tastes and different devices. I will say that when I am in wattage mode I tend to start at about 30 watts, and when I am using the DNA in temp mode I tend to start at about 340° for flavor then jump up to about 380° for clouds. I may go as high as 400° to finish it off, but tend to stay under 390°. The strain I am using factors in as well.
Sadly those are only relative temps as there is really no (easy) way to measure temp accuracy...

How many watts and what temperature works well the splinter?

Just try the hotcig with watts to start in power mode. Try 25w and step up to feel how that affects speed, how fast it rises in temp as you hold trigger, going as high as 40w if you can. I would not bother with temp control yet, it is designed for straight wattage in power mode.

I can get good vapor in wattage mode as low as 28W. For temperature, I found that 380-410 was where I liked it.

People do favor different wattages and temps based on their typical preferences. I would suggest starting in the high 20s in wattage mode and go from there. I would not push it above 45W although some have and like it...most find that to be too harsh unless running through water.

EDIT: LOL, we all said basically the same thing.

Thank you very much for the answers. Now I have to wait with the batteries well charged when the Splinter arrives.

So far I have only used my V2 and Wismec rxgen3 in wattage mode (36W ). I'm curious if it's possible to calculate/estimate the temperature based on wattage.

No idea. I'm curious if your V2 on the rxg3d is as satisfying as mine doing TC 180, 36w, .25ohms from 350 to 390°.

Shout out to Scott, @VGOODIEZ.
Thanks, bud!

My new Splinter V1+ has what I'll call a manufacturing imperfection, in that the stems (including others beside the ones in package) will not seat in the glass properly; the fit is just all loose and it seems like (with a basket screen in place) the stem may be bottoming out on the screen. With no screen (rimmed) the glass will just barely grab a little.

Scott is sending a new one right out and including a return label to use when it arrives. Solid! I won't skip a beat and can stop worrying about leakage or the stem falling out! I love these things...

Having not heard anyone here speak of an issue like this, I've gotta think it's a one-off problem.

My v2 also doesn't hold the glass stems very tightly... they fall out of the splinter if I turn it upside down. I've actually already destroyed one of stock stems like that. I bought mine at Puffitup during the 420 sale.

I own a Wismec and and VBoy 200 (Yihi chip) mod, I can confirm that the VBoy (Yihi) mod will work just fine in wattage mode only. I do get the Dry protection error if I try to use any other mode.

My Splinter V1 grips the glass much easier than my V2 I thought I was having a unique problem. I tried almost every 19/19 stem I own and the "grip" of the glass from the V2 is not there.

BTW, the smoked glass stems of the V2 are of thicker glass. The rimmed screens want to fall out of the V1 (clear) and need to be smashed down a bit to hold in place. On the V2 stems the (same size, batch) screen needed to be forced in since it was so tight.

The glass stem on my first Splinter V1 were a little thinner and screens fit a little loose. On the Splinter V1+ the glass is thicker and the screens are tight (I like this better).
