The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

Old & In the Way
Yes, I don't get why S&B designed the Mighty with a rounded bottom that begs for a stand -- because otherwise it falls over. They could have designed it with a typical flat bottom.

Does anyone know why the Mighty has that round bottom?

Hallie (HD)
I think S&B don't want it flat, because the implication would be that it is safe to stand it on its' own, and it is not. It needs a broader base to support it properly and I think they just wanted to keep the lines slimmer, a little bit more pocketable. When passing with my friends, one of them will put it down and expect that this balancing act is okay. Mine has face-planted from this position and come away with broken fins near the bowl.
Some folks like stands that slide on firmly and pretty much leave that on. I prefer the one from @Ratchett that doesn't grab on, you can lift Mighty in/out easily and it weighs next to nothing. I got mine in 'glow-in-the-dark'. Imo, S&B could include something like this in the box (orange!) with the other plastic accessories. Wouldn't be the first time they got an idea from delta3dstudios!
The smaller Crafty has flat bottom, but it is much shorter with a lower center of gravity.

The next Mighty from S&B ... what do you want?

I love how my Mighty vapes. I'm bored with how my Mighty looks. Dull. Boring. Industrial. But how something works is much more important to me than how it looks. Still, it's very easy for me to imagine an attractive Mighty.

Just to look nicer, here's what I want in a 2.0 version of the Mighty:
* Metal case, same basic size, but less machine and more iDevice
* Metal? Could come in silver, black, blue, red, and cannabis green!
* Even if no case redesign, several color choices again - all plastic need not be all black
* If redesigned, a square, flat bottom so no third-party stand is needed

Also, besides looks, these improvements:
* Replaceable 18650 batteries
* Standard micro-USB for charging
* Increase top temperature to 428°F (220°C)
* Comes with WPA for both 14mm/18mm that won't crack the Mighty's top

What do you want in the next Mighty?

For me, I’d like true convection in a less utilitarian package. I’m a form AND function guy...

I wonder what S and B''s take on a concentrate exclusive vape in a portable would be like.

They didn't want all the pressure that comes from being perfect.

It cools better when it is not standing.
Probably its just that round bottoms look better than flat ones?

I agree, I would want the mighty with replaceable batteries too, mine heats slower than when new. (Maybe S&B wants to be sure what kind of batteries are in their units to prevent problems?)
And some standard charging option would be nice too. I do not like to think of the charger and carry it around all the time.
And a plastic with even less smell when very new would be nice.
And I would love to have a solid way to attach to a water piece.

Basically most what HallieDee said.

Question: Is the screen at the bottom of the bowl necessary if dosing capsules are being used?

Side note: Has anyone else ditched the screen on their cooling unit and noticed much better airflow?

I don't see the bottom screen as any kind of problem. Especially when using capsules. I rarely change mine. It's like every couple years.

And yes I ditched the cooling unit screen, when I starting using the capsules. Not a big difference in air flow, just less cleaning required.

FLAVOR should be on your list of requirements?
Not all think about flavor however a tea spoon of sugar makes the medicine go down?

I say keep the screen in the bottom of the bowl. I often see small particulate there if I've left a capsule dry out a bit. We don't have a means to clean below there.

I agree with the CU, pull it if you want, I think it stays cleaner.

I think like MonkeyTime. The screens are not absolutely necessary with capsules, but they keep everything cleaner.

I got a WTA from vapowelt and it was at my place in 2 days! I wonder if there will be a late express fee.

I did add a screen and a capsule lid to filter some of the particles out that fall out of my capsules/bowl. Keeps the water much cleaner that way.

BTW I think like vapeviking that the main reason for a round bottom is that it is less prone to fall off a table when it is flat than when it stands and falls over. The cooling is probably more the reason for the concave sides.

I cleaned my cooling unit in my ultrasonic cleaner that had Simple Green detergent in it...don't copy this idea. I was left with a nice clean CU that smelled like Simple Green, 2x Iso washes and clean water in the ultrasonic...and it still smelled of the detergent. I finally just pulled the CU apart again and ran it through the dishwasher in the cutlery holder...that fixed it.:myday:

I'm comfortably numb on Jet Fuel OG (through my Mighty) and a few glasses of sake (dinner with the folks) but feel relatively confident to give you advice.

If you are only using capsules, like me, remove the cooling unit screen and never look back. Just make sure you twist a napkin or Kleenex through the opening hole after vaping. Trust me; it's worth doing that quickly after each session. I only need to clean my CU once a month. And my Mighty is a daily driver.

Please refer to the Experts here regarding removing the bottom screen in the oven. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. You never know if a particle of something made it through and fucked your oven. Not likely, but possible. I have had my Mighty for almost two years and still have the same bottom screen that's never been removed or cleaned. And I've put some sweet strains through my Mighty. But I've only ever used the capsules.

Well, take my advice for what it's worth. But as I mentioned above, their are Experts here who can guide you well.

All the best.

I did the same thing some time back. I believe i posted about it then. I ended up soaking it in lemon juice to get the smell out. BTW the simple green did clean it, lol.

Don't have a Mighty but saw that on reddit and i read a lot of people complaining about the Mighty not able to stand upright: a simple business card holder, 4$.

I see now that with my WPA the holes of the added capsule lid and screen gets quickly blocked, which results in uneven airflow. Probably the same happens with the screen of the CU.
So in some cases I see an advantage in a procedure like WildChild uses now. Plus you get cleaner flavour each time.

So I tried cleaning the cooling unit with dish soap and water (after an iso rinse,) and the 2 bowls I've put through the mighty since have tasted almost overwhelmingly of Myer's lemon verbana soap. Not exactly my jam.

Help?
I always cleaned my Crafty cu’s by separating them and dropping the pieces into a baggie with ISO and putting that into a cup of super hot water. After 15-20 minutes I remove and give the pieces a water rinse. No weird taste from that approach.

Dishwasher might do it. Vinegar soak might work. I'd say lemon, but since it's already lemony..

@sk8man121 , you may not want to hear this, but I'd say buy new CU's. 3 for $56, free shipping worldwide from S&B

I agree, shloshing bag with hot ISO and CU parts is effective to clean. I don't reclaim

Also agree removing CU screen with capsule use is advisable -- to keep capsule lids clean! Resin condenses on CU screen, transfers to capsule lid, messy and sticky

Fill caps fully, you will get small herb leaks if you don't

The 33 holes in capsules distribute hot air, minimizing hot spots?
