Vaping with pets?

Hey all,

Me and the lady are trying to give up all forms of smoke since we kicked cigarettes earlier this month, so I recently ordered an MZ. Our husky has been smoking with us since the first time he caught a whiff of it, and I'm curious as to wether or not anyone has experience with any of their pets and vapor.

When we'd smoke, he would set next to me or my girl and wait until we were exhaling when he'd either put his face up to ours or in our laps so we could breathe the smoke his way. Should I just keep on this way with vapor, and if so will he even be affected like he was by regular smoke?

Thanks in advance,

Uncle J.

Im sure your dog will act the same as he did even when you were smoking. I figured that my cats would chill a little but nope...

The one who HATED having clouds blown in his face still hates it.
The one who didnt mind minds even less now (she doesnt sneeze and get all weirded out)
And the little blue kitty is still crazy.

The mere fact that you have a Zap on the way will make it that much more win.

Just so you know, Someone posted on youtube a pet they got high, life got real bad for that person.

The laws deemed it animal abuse and threw the book at him.

Animals like getting intoxicated just as much as humans. However Beez is right, other people will see this as animal cruelty even if your dog is doing its best to jump in and get into rotation for the next hit. I don't think it is information that should be shared.
I used to have a blind arthritic pug that that would seek me out whenever I was smoking.

haha, ever see drunk turkeys. When the grapes begin to go bad and ferment the turkeys eat them and a few times we seen them. On flew into my aunts window lol.

I seen on tv where monkeys somewhere travel to a certain spot in the jungle only during a time when some berry is fermenting and they get wasted hehe. Like an annual tradition for those monkeys.

Never saw turkeys, but I've seen drunk goats. When I lived in oklahoma one of my neighbors had a bunch of goats and an apple tree. The Goats would wait for the fallen apples to ferment before eating them.
Was quite humorous to witness.

I also remember reading about wallabies in australia eating poppy pods from opium crops and spending hours hopping around in circles

A desire to change ones perception of reality has been happening since the dawn of man. I don't think that it's as much of a human condition, but more of an animal condition.

But from an ethical standpoint, I think the following is true. It's one thing when a pet voluntarily seeks you out when you're vaping or smoking to partake in the festivities, but it's quite another to hold their heads between your hands against their will and blow smoke or vapor in their face. I know that no one here has said that they do this, but I know that there are those that do, and in my opinion, it is wrong.

There are various beach/island resorts that have capuchins or relatives of the capuchin monkey that will venture over to where the tourists are lounging on the sand and actually steal their half-finished drinks, haha.

As far as animal cruelty, I could understand why some people see it that way. Since the first time I smoked with him around, though, our husky has actively sought out that smell/smoke/vapor, so I don't think it could be argued that he was inflicting animal cruelty on himself. Even if I tried to exhale away from him, he'll move around so that he can get his face in the clouds.

Thanks for the heads up, Beez; I'll avoid bringing it up elsewhere. Thanks to those who replied.

PS: The MZ is here and the whole household is happy with it :p

I had a dog once who would often sneak off to my secret closet and munch on some plants...sometimes to the point of heavy intoxication if his tummy was upset

with vaping, i do notice my dog licks his lips a lot more when he can smell or sense it around. Think he's getting a taste for it !
i don't have an issue with the cruelty aspect... he seeks it out and probably more so as he's almost 10 now and his movement is starting to slow. Some vapes after running up and down the beach probably does him the world of good.

both of my dogs hated smoke and avoided it, but they dont mind vape. I just release it slowly as i pet them and talk to them and they breath it in without notticing or caring. Then they go clean their food dish out and lay down and watch some tv.

My cousin gave it to his cats as a treat. Initially they sniffed it then they ate and achieved altered states (or so it seemed).

Years ago my husband was growing catnip for our cats. Cats were coming from all over the place to eat the plants. Then he put them in hanging baskets and hung from the garage eaves thinking that would stop the cats from coming to eat. He went out one morning to find a cat with back feet on roof and front feet in the pot, munching away on the nip. Tenacious when they want some nip :)

We grow it now for our cats but keep it on the pool deck, the cats love it. Also grow wheatgrass for them too...they love that too but - they like their weed LOL!

my cat eats his nip and loves it. i put a pinch on the floor and he digs his claws into the carpet on either side of it and just drags his face through it over and over again gets a bunch all over him and then eats it up (usually sneezes during the process) and rolls around with huge pupils lol.

"Nepetalactone is an organic compound first isolated in the plant catnip..." "The chemical interacts as a vapour at the olfactory epithelium." from wiki

I've read somewhere before that it acts more like a sedative when they eat it, but i can't find that source.

For some reason my dog is really into ABV bud. She used to try eat my vaporizer accessories as a puppy, like the tubing on a whip. My launch box even has a bunch of teeth marks on it. Now she just gets really excited when im emptying a bowl, she runs up and tries to lick it out of my hands. Back when I wasnt saving ABV bud it was very easy to get rid of it though, Id just have to tap it out on the table and she would come over and lick it all up.

I have no source for this at all but I also heard that some deer seek out mushrooms during the fall to intentionally hallucinate. Atleast hunting season isnt really during mushroom season...

I've got two cats, they would both rarely come by me to have smoke blown into their face, now that I've switched to vapor, my cats come by and see me a lot more often, and one of them almost seems to seek it out when I start vaporizing.

Of my cats, the one who used to sometimes come by to sniff at the smoke has just caught on to the vapor, and she seems to like it. I was exhaling a cloud, she walked through it, stopped and looked at me. She licked her lips, sat down, and then fussed at me to do it again. I exhaled for her twice more and she sat sniffing and licking her lips. Then I gave her some salmon treats.

I have a feeling she'll be hanging out more often in the... used to be the 'smoking room', but I guess now it's the vaporarium. :D
