Need some advice about air ionizers...

I looked up past threads and only found one hit and it really didn't answer my questions. Does anyone use one of these gizmos and if yes what's your take. I vap in the basement and sometimes her folks bitch about a weird smell. So of course K will bitch at me. I was wondering if a air ionizer would do the trick and what size I would need. Any recomendations would be great...

This would definitely be interesting to see, as I have a hard time vaping in my dorm room here. It's go to the point where I don't think I will be able to use my MZ much anymore until next year when I move into an apartment.

The Launch Box is going to be used more often. :)

A product called Ozium? Ozone in a can O3, for an air freshener. O3 is highly reactive. Used to sterilize your tap water. This stuff even kills smoke (I used it back in the days of smoking and worrying about odor). GIve it a shot, it was around long before Febreeze which makes a pressurized can air freshener that might work (for less money, Ozium is a bit expensive, or used to be). It even comes in a smallish can for hiding away, one or two shots and tuck it away. Cheaper (short term) and no explanation of what you need an ionizer for. :2c:

I have an heater with a built in ionizer and Im not sure it would be enough for the vaping smell. It helps get rid of it quite a bit faster, because the one I have actively moves air through it with fans. But it still smells for a while initially.

Have you tried cooking microwave popcorn when you vape inside (strong coffee works well too)? This completely killed the smell for me while I lived in the dorms. The only thing is that its kind of expensive if you vape a bunch and after a while I ended up getting really sick of microwave popcorn. I had people over to watch hockey games every other night and we never even got the door knocked on with the popcorn smell.

I 3rd the Ozium! And a little does go a long way. pphsst pphsst and your done. smells funny for about 30 seconds and then nothing. Don't use the flavored Ozium tho, they leave behind a chemical sweet smell that just screams you are trying to cover something up

*edit* Also there is the ol dryer sheet in the toilet paper roll technique and a buddy of mine sells a device called "DragonBreath" that is the size of a chapstick container you blow your hit through and it comes out the other side smelling like grape, or cherry or green apple or whatever.

I never used popcorn to cover up the smell but that is BRILLIANT! Never would have thought of that, of course I would have been eating a ton of popcorn.
I wonder if that smell would bring people(especially in a dorm) knocking on your door for popcorn. HAHA

Bruce@Zephyr,
Love me some Ozium (started back in early 70s I think).

My Hunter Hepatech air cleaner has a built in ionizer and it does squat against odors.

What does work quite well are the "Smoker" and "Pet Odor" Exterminator candles from Paul Hoge Creations. Cost about $7 and have some nice flavors available, Bamboo Breeze is my favorite. You can get them at the Vet's office or a tobacco shop as well as online. Prices online are not that much better unless you buy cases.

as far as smell goes, Ozium is the bomb.
I have several Air Ionizers in my house. Whenever I vape near one you can hear that puppy crackling and popping. Vapor gunks up the plates in the ionizer pretty fast compared to normal particles in the air.
It keeps the smell out yes. But makes your Ionizer smell like the vapor instead

you could build an air filter with an activated carbon filter layer. I made one a few years ago for a friends NYC apt. grow room.

I have one of those big box air ionizers but it doesn't have a name on it anywhere. It is similar to this one:
http://www.greatvacs.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/32823/vpid/8202509/vpcsid/0/rid/134525

The tower ones work a little bit but won't do much except take money away from you. You have to spend $200-300 for a decent commercial unit and they will work. It says on the description that it is for 3000sq ft. If they don't say the sq ft rating, you know they will only work for a small area.

Mine stops buzzing when there's moisture in the air. That's the only problem.

If you don't have $300 then do the dryer sheet roll trick.

I always vape in my room and in the car, and keep a small ionizer in my room.
I use it for cleaning the air and it should eliminate odors, but I don't have this problem just because my vaping session doesn't release any odor in my room (probably because the 90% of vapor remains in my lungs;))

i say try the ozium..its not just an air freshner..it actually attaches to smoke particles and makes them fall out of the air...was at a friends house blazin once and had the stereo blaring & the police show up..he sprayed that ozium around the room for 3-4 secs and yelled just a min, & you could see the smoke settling like a dust cloud..was my 1st experience w/ozium..now i keep a small bottle everywhere..i get them at autozone..the big cans are somewhat hard to find around here..or u could burn incense?

I received the airbutler franck today. Its a 8w ionizer, powerful, with an UV lamp to kill bacteria and fungus, a really quiet operation, efficient even when the fan is stopped. For 100euros its keeping the odors low and help with the other crap in the air as well.
