I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire some more W9Tech gear from a forum member recently. One of the items was the Hammer. It had the original rod and since I wanted to use it with my nail (no more blow-torch) I had to get hold of the 1200F rod. Found one in Canada and just tried it out for the first time. It does feel like you are wielding a weapon as it get red hot. Using it on the nail gives a good result. Very different from making the nail hot and putting a dab on it. The release of vapour is slower and more controlled. Very smooth but not a gigantic cloud producer. Anyway it works and really hits the mark!

Any other Hammer users, would be interested in how you use it.

Especially with sappier stuff, i liked to ball it up on the tool, then run it lightly over the rod over one of my larger open top domes with the nail to catch drippings to stir up with rod after to finish.

I really like your bubbler set up. Can you provide more details and a close up still image?

Also nice iron lungs dude!

Thank you Sir! I'll take the compliment, truth be told I've been sick and I was honestly worried I'd catch flak for having weak lungs.

Yes I can provide detailed pictures of the WT used, but alas details will be slim. Some year or two ago during an apprenticeship as a lampworker/glass artist a gentleman brought this piece in wanting it modified (or to have a U-bend put into a downstem with a grommet attached at any rate) to be used as a normal combustion bowl. I recognized it for what it was and loved it.

He claimed it was partial repayment from an artist who owed him meth money. I gave him a hammer valued at 120$ or so for it despite a half inch stress fracture along the upper "reclaim section" of the pipe. It's somewhat poorly executed, the joints are sloppier than my work and I believe the artist that created this is more talented than I am.

The design is spot on though. If I still had access to a glassworks I'd be modifying this to match my devices and banging out a few of them to size for everything I own. My camera is being bitchy at me right now so pics will follow and I will highlight the design points that made me love it as a concentrate user, a vape enthusiast, and as a glass artist. (I'm not bragging, I've spent much more time on glass/colour chemistry and sculpture than pipemaking....I'm not a good pipe artist yet!

Well I have been away from the boards for a bit as I had 3 kids in 4 years but I finally jumped on the 510 Herc and all I can say is WOW. I cant believe I waited so long. As a Crohns sufferer being without meds is not good, a typical LAYG pen was sufficing at best for now. The Herc has made me a free man, I can go anywhere I want and get rig like hits, instant medication and relief. It has literally changed my life. Thank you Gary!!!!

Quick heads up we have the circuit board for the Persei and currently testing it with the Hercules and 1701 ceramic, it works great with our Ti gr 2 heaters.

Stay tuned for information regarding how the Hercs and the 1701 go.

Is the 510 to 601 Herc insulator available anywhere other than w9?

They want $55 Canadian with shipping on the W9 site. Lol

While I am very pleased with the performance and flavor from my SR74, the top screen makes the draw too restrictive. I am assuming that a bubbler will take care of that, but I don't want to carry around glass in public.

Any other suggestions to loosen up the draw? Probably not a good idea to just go without?

Is your top screen freshly cleaned? I found mine tended to clog up a lot when i first started with the herc, I'm assuming i was running too hot and pulling too hard. Hasn't been a problem for the past month or so.

Obviously the draw is better when newly cleaned, but still a bit more restrictive than I would like. It is clogging fairly quickly, perhaps I should try lowering temps. thx

ok so correct me if im wrong but can use flowers with a Hercules SR-71 attached to a box mod of my choosing ?
That would be possible if you bought your SR-71 from puffitup or purchased a 510-601 adapter such as an https://www.w9tech.com/cartridges/hercules/510-to-601-hercules-adapter-bottom-insulator/ however @jpdnkstr hit the nail on the head with his description; the Hercules was designed for oils and is easiest to operate with them. Herbs might be better loaded inside a dedicated herbal vaporizer for an easy vaping experience, the Hercules has a proclivity to combust loads of pure herbs unless very low power levels and patient technique is used, it doesn't make a great herbal daily driver vape.

You could try contacting PlanetVape.ca directly, I didn't see it listed on their site but it may be available through them.

If they don't have it, @PuffItUp stocks this adapter at http://www.puffitup.com/Hercules-Base-Adapter-p/herc_adapt.htm

What's your current power settings, and draw technique like? Usually the best way to reduce clogs on the outside of the top screen is to reduce draw strength.

I used to have my screen clog so I just took it out and haven't had any issues with wax in my mouth or with it really riding up the mp. It could be my technique just improved, I definitely still get wax in the metal cap though.

Can't wait for new the persei!
