Make sure there's no gap between your tip and body/stem. This has happened to me, where I couldn't figure out why my omni suddenly seemed fully open no matter how I adjusted it. Turned out the tip wasn't seated into my stem all the way.

As an alternative to cotton buds, I've been using the flat end of disposable wooden manicure sticks (often called "orange sticks") to gently scrape reclaim out of my condenser. Then just sandwich it between a little bit of bud to pack the tip and commence with the fun.
