The box part on the bottom is still in the unit on bottom, it just pulls out maybe a 1/4 inch when pulling the cord out of it. When it's in use I obviously push it back in just wanted to know if it's okay to use

Try letting it heat soak for 5 min, works very well when using lower temps. One time I let it heat soak for 3 hours at 7.5 and ripped great. Probably shouldn't fall asleep during a heat soak, but the e nano will do that to you haha.

Set level to 10. Take chopstick and push screen to as close to heater without touching, 1/4in from heater roughly. Let sit for 5-10min. Then take chop stick and push screen out other end toward mouthpiece. All that gold will collect on screen and you can scrape off that. I recommend waiting...
