The bender with a Persei in 18350 mode via the SS kit is quite a bit smaller than the solo for whatever that's worth.

How do I go about doing this? This sounds like the perfect solution and would be ideal since my schedule is somewhat unpredictable.

My SR-71 (black rod, 3.6v) shorted out my remaining double cartridge persei head and collapsed a removable spring :(. I've got the older tops, but the only thing that is confusing me is why this happened in the first place. I thought that when using the black 3.6v rod with an older revision top...

I think that the device should be designed to be less prone to user error, I can only imagine the headache a consumer who doesn't use the internet would have trying to get this to work. The coil cutting is pretty ridiculous in my opinion if I'm being honest, it's just such a "ghetto" solution...

Alright thanks for all the info and links regarding the Efest batteries, also sorry if I offended anyone, I was unaware that anyone from W9/Uptech had commented on the Efest batteries. On a side note, the sr-71 has exceeded my expectations now that I've got it working.

No that doesn't show anything to be perfectly honest. That's like saying the generic IMR 18350s included in the Persei kit are the absolute best solely because that what it came with. I'm not saying either battery is bad, I'm just curious how they compare. Edit: woops sorry for the double post

Can you link me to something that objectively compares the Efest batteries to the AWs? If they are on the same spec level and are on par performance wise I'd get them.

Aww shoot, I left for work about 15 minutes after you posted that. Good news though, after much tinkering I was able to get the SR-71 working with a black rod at 3.6v (imr 18650)! I did a number of things to get it working: - I heated the ceramic rod with jet lighter before tightening the nut...

No unfortunately I do not own a multimeter, I'm going to ask a few friends though and try to use one because I realize that it would help identify/troubleshoot my issue. This may be a bit off topic, but is the white rod 7.6v configuration more likely to break something than the black rod 3.6v...

Hello THC Scientific, I've actually already tried precisely what you recommended (read about the advice a few pages back), I screwed the SR-71 without the bottom insulator (pictured above) and the SR-71 still does not heat up what so ever. This is incredibly frustrating to trouble shoot...

Seems like good advice, but I don't understand how cutting the cool will help since the unit doesn't even get warm at all. I'll cut it once I get the sr-71 working first. Any ideas why my sr-71 isn't generating any heat?
