^ Well put. I generally always load at least a little more than halfway full, and will usually stir/crush just once about half way through. I have also noticed that with the smaller bowls (less than half full), the stir really doesn't make much difference and is not really necessary.

I've found that one stir/crush halfway through the bowl seems to introduce new surface area to the heat and gives you a little extra shot of the super thick, tasty vapor - similar to what you get from the first couple hits on a bowl. Oh, and halfway through for me is about about 3 - 5 hits...
