Yes, wipe clean and always heat to slightly above vaporization temperature, about +50*F, to allow contaminates/oils to vaporize before actually using and inhaling. Just a best practice for all vapes and shouldn't damage anything.

The space thingy is an insulator and stops/lowers the heat from the post from transferring through to the base. Older posts have shorter threaded sections and the post's most recent upgraded for 18mm injector compatibility when CH released the injector bottoms.

I appreciate this comparison chart from Vapvana thread and wanted to share if helpful. The chart is missing Injector styles, and all the other manufacturers (Phase3, SWGP, etc.), and also Body Material Type as an additional column (SS, Ti, Zr, etc.) for comparisons.
