Are you aware that there is a low temp cap, made for this purpose? While it is possible to get a feeling for the heat and control it manually the low temp cap would probably be a more pragmatic option.

Late reply, but it might still help: I bought a broken Digit for cheap (60€ shipped :brow:), guessing/hoping it would be sad thermal fuse. It was, when I bridged the fuse it heated up immediately. The Neo looks more like the successor to the Fenix 2.0 if you ask me. I own the 2.0 and am very happy with it. Can't help with the smell though, I would give it another few rounds before giving up. Here in Germany Fenix are not the most popular, but I haven't heard anything bad about them so...

So I got a Dani, got it second hand, if I am not mistaken it is a v3 SS. The silver ring spins freely on the cap, is that on purpose? I am very happy with the device btw, this is not a complaint.

Beeswax is cleared similarly. In general you'd want your stuff to solidify as slowly as pssible, this way all the stuff has more time to settle to the bottom. When clearing beeswax the crockpot is often packed in insulating material (like old blankets), to slow down the cooling/solidifying process).
