Yeah. The screen faces out so you can see it, the dots face inward or down. The ring holds it so it can't fall out of the herb chamber. Slide the ring in vertically. It slides in easily because there is a section where the diameter is smaller on the ring. Now use the tool to push it...

You just press the ring down with the tool that came with the unit. It's pretty easy.
