Discontinued Zion vaporizer

I'm rather salty, it's not really about being patient any more, I don't like the lights being shut off and no one answering.

Just asked for a Mi through the contact page on the site, don't need the extra 40 bucks back instead I asked if they could offer extra batteries and screens. Hopefully that's not too much to ask, only been waiting a year now. I also hope it's not like one extra battery and screen.

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
I am holding strong with my pre order :nope:

I also actually paid for a milaana today while the discount is still available for those with pre orders.

It appears rbt might be trying to phase these out. I'm sure it makes more business sense to make a vape with less parts at a cheaper price and similar results. We can speculate all we want but it seems we just won't know until we do...

Patience is what the old folk teach :myday:

:peace:

Yeah hang in there, the beta team won't let RBT abandon Zion, the power desktop Mi will be available eventually. All I understand is that Milaana both took time from Zion but is also funding its completion. I am happy using just Milaana but Zion really is capable of a bit more, a proper next tier model and at least it will have a running start when it's time to properly release it... but yeah the less he has to make this time the quicker they will get done? :ko:

The wait has been brutal to those riding but all i can say is this vape is the real deal. For me personally i never use the Mi when the Zion is available. Hell, i rarely use any other vapes at all. Within 6hrs of playing with my two new GH's i was back to ripping Zion dry from the stem. Nug chunks in the Zi stem dry is just awesome IMO....

That said. I understand any and all frustration and anyone who jumps ship

I'm hanging in there, if I haven't needed that money over the past year, I probably don't really need it now. I figure I will just take the pre-order price, add my annual salary for the time I have put into waiting, and call it the most expensive vape in my collection.

Just like I had previously said in the Zion shipping. I really won't be surprised if you don't see anything before October.

I think he meant October 2016 last year.

Fuck let's hope the few staying get it by then.

The Zion is a head scratcher for sure! Going on 12 months, Mi been and gone and those with warrenty claims STILL not returned?
Here's to hoping this thing sees the lights of day as a double bat regulated Mi would be tops.

I will probably still jump back on when/if the Zion makes it into the wild. I still love the look of it and think it fits my needs much better than the Mi. I just don't do well with indefinite waits and moving goalines so I needed to step out. Too many things in life for me to stress over as it is.

I feel a bit bad that several others seem to have followed suit and requested a refund the past week. Hopefully that really is something RBT was wanting and it won't be a problem.

Speaking of the refund, though, I still haven't heard anything. Three business days left until I hit ten, so I'm not bothered, but I am curious how the process goes and if it often takes longer than the stated time. Anyone here gotten a refund already? Did you get an email or anything, or did the money just show back up on your account one day?

they say im crazy but i have a good time
... i hope this comes back to life!
i've been holding out on the Milaana because i think zion would suit me better (not a fan of swapping out battery's after a few bowls - main reason i disliked the Air)

... and from user accounts, the consensus is once zions are out in the wild there is no need for Mi...

... for now i will continue to hold off Milaana in anticipation for a Zion...
I will own one of these (if not both), but as of now my minds focused on the zion
because of user feedback.... we will see how long i can hold off the RBT vas...

In practice (at least for me) the Zion has not twice the Milaana battery life.

I also don't get as many bowls per charge as other members keep reporting in both threads. Rather I get what I expect from any vape using two 18650 in series (Zi) or a single 18650 (Mi), not less but not more either. So for me, with the particular way I use them and how much I load, I get on average 4 bowls per charge for the Zi and 3 for the Mi.

I clearly prefer my two Zi and use them in priority whenever it's possible. But they are "transportable" rather than "portable". When I leave home I never take them excepted for special occasions and when the trip is short (don't want to risk getting controled with one of these in my bag as I would have a very hard time pretending it's just some kind of e-cig or say a USB drive like I do with my FlowerMates)

The Mi excels at fast extraction and getting a few giant rips in a hurry, but it's unforgiving in the sense that if you miss your timing just once (and we're talking about a very small window here, one second makes a lot of difference) you can spoil the taste for the remainder of the session. The Zi (unless used solely at full power) doesn't have this issue and you can make 'mistakes' without any ill effect.

The Zi is bulky and the Mi is sexy, but both attract looks and make people ask questions. The Mi can pass as a custom e-cig box mod, but people will ask why it's so big... to which I answer that I like fat rips!

My conclusion would be to buy both. Get a Mi first as they are available right now, then get a Zi when the train restarts.

Well Sheila told me she'd have 'er out today. Should I expect a tracking number? I forgot to ask.

*My Mi, not a Zion.

...@KeroZen thanks for that...
you sir have convinced me to reconsider my views...

Yeah, though Kero's numbers seem low to me, Milaana is like 4-6 bowls and Zion is like 8-12, it really can be double, regardless of the reason for it (aside from regulated high voltage, Zion has a larger/longer heater that is a bit more complex than Milaana, more carefully placed, and ofcourse it has the stem/stash storage and lid which is very nice and self contained despite the size). So yeah they're a bit more different than they appear, I would have to agree and say get both, at least Milaana is available now, and Zion at the pre order price was way too good to pass up imo. Still worth waiting for, however long, in the dark or the light, but a Milaana makes the wait easier probably :2c::peace:

I can't say I understand why you are only getting 33% more 'bowls' with 2x the battery capacity. Unless the electronics in the Zion are really inefficient (doubtful) you should get very close to 2x the number of bowls. Voltage or current doesn't really matter its wattage that does.

@YaFreekin Right : you are correct and I edited my post to remove the misleading part which was not well formulated and indeed not the reason for the difference I see in practice. I think I just tried to precise that we don't get twice the mAh, just twice the voltage, not that it really matters.

There are some losses in the step down regulator (advertised at 93% efficiency) but they don't account for much.

The main reason I only get 4 bowls per charge (and that is by driving the cells down to 3.4V, lower than with the Mi that ends more at 3.6V) is that my Zion sessions are longer. I never use them at full power so I end up getting more hits that require more preheat and trigger time. The Zion allows to do the temperature stepping in a very organic way, so I end up spending more time extracting at low temp, then mid temp and ending at high temp. Whereas the Mi is always full on and tends to force me to extract faster at higher temp, with shorter sessions.

The Zi also outputs a constant power whereas the Mi peaks at 50-60W only with a fresh cell. The power figure only goes down with the voltage afterwards. So in a sense the Zi outputs more watts continuously and thus depletes the cells faster. This is however partly countered by the fact you need to hold the trigger longer and longer with the Mi as the voltage drops.

There are other differences to take into account, like heater size and IR, larger body mass (heatsink effect) etc. So it's not that simple, but overall the main reason is the pace at which I do my sessions. If the heaters were exactly the same and the Zi was started at full power then gradually decreased, it should be closer to 2x the run time of the Mi.

Not happy about being kept in the dark, not happy at all.

Still, I'm staying on board. I bought the Mi outright and I'm loving it, it's entirely replaced my solo and my hammer in one fell swoop. However, the Zion really seems like it'll be my perfect vape. The regulation and self-containedness would be game changing for me. Main complaint with mi is that I need to carry a lot of different shit to make it run right (Mi, battery case, stem, herb, and toothpick for stirring). Also would love more consistent performance, and the ability to turn it up for me, and down for my fat fingered friends would be huge.

I love the Milaana, but its very few shortcomings really make me want a Zion
