I received one in August from S&B America, serial #26xxx, firmware version 2.07. I've read that 2.08 has been shipping. I hope that the one OG_LH got 8 days ago would at least have the reinforced housing? My earlier unit 11xxx did not.
Did you buy from Ausvapes? The new unit we received does have the updated reinforced housing. Although it's running 2.07.. just like our first unit.
Direct from the SB Germany HQ.Did you buy from Ausvapes?
Hey guys I have been following this thread for a while as I am interested on buying a Crafty, but I have a major concern over the amount of users claiming several faulty units in a short period of time. So in my case living outside of US and having to pay custom taxes on it's way back it is impossible for me to be swapping units if mine fails.
That's a given for any product vaporizer or not, but compared to just about any other thread on this forum there are more posts complaining of problems in here. I realize FC is a small sample size but it is a sample nonetheless.I think that users that had problems post more often. I am still on my 1st crafty ( with FW 2.05 ) with 53h on the clock.
Based on my experience (just sent Crafty #3 back)
Happy deciding, it's not easy with such a huge new world of products on the market.
Out of the vapes you mentioned , the Crafty does produce the most thick, consistent vapor. I would reccomend finding a local retailer you can deal with that will exchange in case of warranty concerns so you do not need to deal with shipment costs and customs fees.Fair enough, thanks for your reply mate, yes it is very hard to decide which one I should buy, all other vaporizers seems to not produce a consistent and continually vapor like the Crafty. I was thinking about the haze v3, pax 2, but then there is the alfa as well. Very hard to choose and I need one asap as I am allergic to smoke. Really sucks that the crafty is having so many problems, I was going to get one but then I found this thread here at FC and I pulled back.
FYI, I have a Crafty and Pax 2. I prefer the Crafty, but am really afraid of it failing and the unknown of S&B customer service. I'm also not a fan of the cu maintenance. But it works great!Fair enough, thanks for your reply mate, yes it is very hard to decide which one I should buy, all other vaporizers seems to not produce a consistent and continually vapor like the Crafty. Yeah dude, I understand the mighty seems a little bit more reliable but I don't feel like it is worth the extra dollars on it for maybe get a few more hours out of it. I guess I will just sit and wait until something more reliable and good as the crafty/mighty is released and maybe even a crafty 2 we never know, hopefully they will come up with a more reliable version soon, there is the vapir prima that was just released as well and the initial reviews put it very close to the crafty, not to mention GH ... So yeah thank you for the support I will keep an eye here on FCKaptan has a good suggestion about local purchase. If a you are a heavy user, you could consider the somewhat(?) more robust Mighty.
Still, wouldn't pick up either if you're not in a place that can get warranty service.
As much as I like my Crafty, I cannot recommend it for your situation, @inhale. I would look for something with a proven reliability like the Arizer Solo or Air. The Crafty (and to a lesser extent the Mighty) seem to not have the longevity for an international buyer to justify the cost.Yeah dude, I understand the mighty seems a little bit more reliable but I don't feel like it is worth the extra dollars on it for maybe get a few more hours out of it. They should have sent you a shipping label so you don't have to pay either way. That's what I have done with every defective Crafty. My crafty already stoped Working just after 75 days. Not something you expect from something you paid $340 dollars for. But in all fairness i Do have to say my pax did the same thing after a month and also had to be replaced under warranty. My Arizer solo lasted about 2 years . That's pulling about 7 sessions per day.
Storz & bickel customer service responded within 3 hours of my email in a very timely manner. I was informed to send my item in for repair. I guess if these companies are willing to fix or replace the item it's just really an inconvenience for the customer and of course with the crafty you pay for the shipping there. We'll see how long this crafty lasts after I get it back.......

My Mighty was received by them (2nd one) on Monday, expecting a shipment notice today or tomorrow on that one.
I am in Australia. My retailer pays for shipping on both ends.hah, Good guess past self, got the notice my Mighty is on its way back today.
edit: as for shipping, if you are outside the USA you will always have to pay for return shipping. I usually ask nicely for some free screens, o rings, etc. to cover my shipping and they typically oblige.
