They're different beasts. I'd never want to give up my EVO. But if you're comparing strictly in terms of complete extraction, taste, and hit size, I feel they are comparable. I would give the slight edge to the EVO in taste and hit size though, extraction being fairly equal between the two.
I have both as well and very much agree with this appraisal. I'm a flavor chaser, and the EVO is at the very top of the list, along with the original MiniVAP. However, the Crafty (and Mighty) is just a tiny step below in taste. And whatever they lack in that regard, they more than make up for it with convenience.

I only use the Crafty when I'm out and about, if I'm at home, the EVO is on and ready and go. I like to take long session vapes and enjoy it. The EVO (or any desktop) allows that since you don't have a battery to worry about. It's also much better if you have more then 1 person. I find the Crafty to be best as a 1 or maybe 2 person vape. The EVO can keep a giant crowd stoned to the bone without flinching.
I partially agree and disagree with this. I certainly agree it makes sense to pair the Crafty with a less portable "home" vaporizer so battery life isn't an issue. However, I personally found the EVO to be cumbersome to use with groups. Even with the neoprene sleeve, it's a little tricky to hold. Also, the cord has a tendency to get in the way when passing the unit around, and to pull the unit off the table if you're not careful. I eventually started using the Crafty at home with small groups (3-4 people) for precisely these reasons.

IMO, a larger battery-powered vaporizer like the Mighty works best for groups. And even when vaping solo at home, battery power has benefits. For example, if I'm enjoying my Mighty at the kitchen table, it's a no-brainer to pick up and move over to the couch, whereas I have to worry about wall outlets and extension cords with the EVO. I also find myself vaping outside on my balcony more for much the same reason. There are many things to love about the EVO, but I find myself using it less and less. I may even part with it at some point.

You like it better than the liquid pad too?

I don't use screens myself, I'm a fill it full then put a bit more in kind of guy :mental: But I have tried a few different screen just to try

Even some dome screens, but IMO the pacman is the easiest to use (fill and empty) and gives slightly better results (from my limited tests) also easier than the liquid pad to remove.

And I couldn't find a dome screen.

Unshaven Fish, where'd you get them?

Good point, that's definitely true. Depending on the group and layout of how everyone is seated, it could be a little cumbersome passing it around. I guess I meant more in the fact it has unlimited power on tap to keep giving hit after hit, no matter the number of hits desired.

EVO/Crafty/Mighty compliment each other wonderfully :)

Unshaven, I guess I am surprised that you find the homemade pacman screen easier to use than the nice, pre-made domed screens. Especially the ones with the rim. What's with that?

Maybe I used easy in the wrong way, but you will get normal screens with the crafty so will already have them, also the dome in the CU takes a little fiddling to fit and would need done each time the CU is cleaned, whereas the pacman screen falls in and out easy with no need to touch it when emptying, so it's maybe more of a it performs easier thing.

Couple of things I didn't like (but maybe others might) the ones with the rim only fit in the bowl like in the pic, and this means either putting herb under the screen to keep contact with the oven walls but then the middle of the bowl that IMO has the most airflow has less herb than the sides of the bowl, or herb on top of the screen which keeps the herb in the middle of the bowl (most airflow space) but stops it touching the oven walls.

For me the mix of convection and conduction is just right under normal use (no screens) and using the domes seemed to effect performance a little, I would guess from the screens altering the mix or me not getting something right even, but the pacman screen while maybe adds a little conduction for me seemed more like what I'm used to when using my crafty normally.

The domes without the rim for me worked a little better, and fitting one in the CU was maybe easier to use (as it stays put in the CU) than the pacman screen but it (again for my tastes) didn't perform as well, to fit it in the CU I left the normal CU screen inplace then put the dome against it and pushed till the edge of the dome gripped between the CU and normal screen.

Something else I noticed with the dome with rim was the rim got very hot (I'm not good with knowing if things are too hot, but it did melt my skin a bit so it has to have been hot) so I don't know if this would have any effect on the bowl materials over time as it rests in the gap at the top of the metal part of the oven, I would guess it's ok as its all high temp material there but I can't say for sure.

I might try them out a little more over the next few days to see if I still feel the same way (was a while ago when I tried the screens) maybe I can get better results if I put my mind to it.

Forgot I even had these beasts but maybe the little one could work on top of the herb, will give it a try and post results when I get a chance.

I think that screen on the right would work perfectly inside the bowl, and easier to take out than a screen. Let us know what you find

I had to click on the picture of the mouthpiece on the front page of the site to add it to my cart. It wouldn't work from the link above.

It does fit but just, and has to go in and out perfectly level or it sticks, I'm sure I can make it a little smaller though, the smaller one fits with a 1-2mm'ish gap around the edge.

Just had a half bowl with the pacman screen then one with the smaller one from the pic, both worked clouds were not as good as a full bowl but it was less herb used, will need to try it a bit more really, but they both seem to perform the same.

I've never seen screens like that. What are they for? Where can you get them?

Again I'm in the UK so the link might not be useful but this is them

I do remember someone else using the bigger one in the CU and they were in the U.S. I think so must be available over there also.

I smashed my Turbine the other day...I almost cried; then I got to pair it with my old bubbler. Only to discover that the Turbine was in fact shit! Its like a different vaporiser! If youre about to "pull the trigger" (I find that saying rather nauseous!) save yourself some dough and buy a bigger bubbler to go with it!

Wow. Please tell us more. Anyone in here used the glass mouthpiece?

I understand that it probably cools the vapor, but does it improve the flow of vapor?

I disassembled and cleaned my cooling unit for the first time, it was pretty cooked with gunk. I had to soak it three times (2x after I took it apart), and needed to scrape it, brush it and swab it as well but it's clean.

After considering upgrading to a mighty, I decided to stick with the crafty. I ordered the wear-and-tear kit and may send in for a firmware upgrade (I have v2.05). I decided that the crafty's perfect for me (as in solo use). The only time I want more than a bowl is when I am sharing with more than one other person, and this doesn't happen very often. If I only had one vape it might be a mighty, which I recommend it to vape nubes if they have the cash. But the crafty is better for the occasional stealth user, and I like the app.

I've gone to slightly lower temperatures and the flavor is better, extraction is still excellent, and the overheating issues seem to have improved. The only misbehavior is my hours seem stuck on 12 for some reason. I should have over 30, that's what I thought it said last time I checked. And since I noticed it was at 12 I have used it at least 4 times, I guess if I use it 4 more times without it changing it's malfunctioning.

Just got my crafty, had it for over a week and I'm very satisfied with the quality.
However i do have a few questions:
1. Has anyone had any luck replacing or upgrading the battery?
2. Whats the best way to pack, how tight etc?
3. Does "fluffiness" of the bud matter?

Welcome youed, and congrats on your Crafty! I can't speak to the battery question. Since it's technically not replaceable, I don't mess with it. Regarding packing, I use a SC grinder and just tamp it down. I use a CVault and it works great. I've read that others prefer to let it dry out.

I recommend you read the reviews from Buzz Danklin and Vape Critic. They add some great info, have comparisons and cleaning tutorials. Enjoy!

I just received a replacement of my crafty sn 0113 .. that gave the scream! +- 50hrs
Sometimes does not turn on, asking to warm the battery and also vibrated only sometimes.

SN 0223 .. New case, firm 2:07, one minute turns off.

Amazing! In three months S & B put out 10,000 craftys! In May received directly from Germany my second unit sn 0121 .. and now goes on sn 0223 .. !!

Smell my cheese
Been a while since I had the Crafty, I was expecting something like the Mighty but smaller, but the constant overheating and shutting off annoyed me. I emailed S&B, told them my problems and asked if I could swap it for another Mighty- they obliged. However in my correspondence with them, they referred to the Crafty as faulty. So if you are looking to upgrade from a Crafty to a Mighty, they may only do it if you tell them the Crafty is faulty. In the end I sold the extra Mighty and got my money back.

Wait, they said your Crafty was faulty, or all Crafty's were faulty?
