First post on my beloved Crafty- I've had it for 3 months. I love the hits, and the efficiency using the pad, but I'm really getting sick of how long it takes to heat up, especially on boost temp. I'm outside at a club, watching it blink red for 3 minutes or more, ridiculous. And I turned down the light as much as it could go, which isn't enough. It's still too bright. As far as stealth, BS. This thing looks like a blinking hand grenade, can you imagine a cops reaction? I've been taking it everywhere, using a RYOT smell safe bag, but this is no way to roll. Just sayin...

I generally run between 181 to 185 depending on ambient temps. Pretty much never bother with the boost mode, just one temp for the whole bowl. Smooth hits and the leftovers come out a crumbly medium brown.

Different folks will have different preferences. I tend to run all my vapes at the cooler end of the spectrum for smoother hits and less body high.

i just got a mighty, ive been trying different temps, set on 160 -> 175 -> 190 ->210

any advice on what you guys use for your temps?

The light can be turned off completely via the app.

For quick hits, I usually start it heating in my pocket as I make my way out to vape. I agree the warm up time is kind of a bummer. When out on a leisurely walk in the woods or driving you don't really notice so much.

It really is pretty discreet/stealth from a distance of a few feet. In daylight the LED is not visible from a distance and in the dark just turn it off if you're concerned.

Most cops are expecting stoners to be smoking; so they are watching for pipes and joints and lighter flashes. Inhaling from a nondescript black box with an LED looks much more like you are consuming nicotine e-liquid at first glance.

I keep my crafty loaded loose in my coat pocket nearly all the time and so far no one has commented on smell.

Yeah the waiting for the red light to turn green is a killer. Dare I post this in the crafty forum? Oh well here it goes. I was looking at the elevape SV instant Heat up time. One thing though people's elevape keeps braking to, was reading some of their posts.

Was it always so slow?
My Mighty is going in for repair because it is so slow now. Non replaceable batteries are a major landfill problem and I for one am an advocate for user replaceable batteries.

Mine should be covered under warranty I mean the heater is gone. I can't find my charger for my mflb so now I'm back to smoking.

Ah, bummer. I have multiple mflb as that is my go to portable vape. Always works, very odorless, and easy to care for. I love my crafty and pax, but the mflb is my simple staple. I have two and several chargers and batteries. At least , get yourself some spare chargers and batteries so you always have a backup vape.

Wise words. I prefer my way so I am sure but at many times I am reminded the world does not revolve around me.......
I hear you. Thing is you can't just throw batteries in the recycle bin. They have to go to a special place. In my house we collect ours then, when we have a bunch accumulated, my wife takes them to her work for proper industrial recycling.

Mine get collected as well for the township gathering. However if you ask me to believe that by sending my vape in for battery replacement the place of business would do what I would do I would say your crazy.

Energizer bunny now publicly post 4% recycle on specific batteries they sell, wow.

Well, I'm not a business genius but I would bet California regulates how businesses dispose of such things. I seriously doubt S&B is putting them in the landfill but I could be wrong.

Many of us have been wrong before. California is full of businesses doing the wrong thing!

After seeing the site mentioned here, I bought my crafty from everyonedoesit.

I paid $314, free shipping (got it 4 days after I ordered it), and a free bag of Haribo gummies. Now they have it for $302. My crafty has serial 88XX with 2.05 firmware.

Only got 5 hours on it so far. I love how portable it is, brought it to work and got everyone baked :)

Hmmm . . . 5.02 firmware is not what I would expect with devices coming back from S&B repair with 2.XX versions.

Oops, 2.05 not 5.02 (fixed). I must have Android updates on my mind or I mixed up the numbers. It's a brand new unit only 2 weeks old, with newer firmware. If my 1 st gen moto x would ever receive the lollipop update I could test it.

Just wanted everyone to know I had zero issues with everyonedoesit, and to pass the savings along to anyone interested in the crafty.

Ahh . . . 2.05 totally makes sense. There are counterfeit vapes out there but it seems odd that someone could/would replicate the Crafty considering the need to make it app compatible, etc. Not impossible but less probable than the other ones.

Everyonedoesit has an amazingly low price and I'm not sure how they pull it off. We got lucky and bought from a Canadian source to get the benefit of the exchange rate to US dollars. But for most folks who are still smoking their herb, the efficiency of this vape will pay for itself in time even at full retail IMO.

I can't remember which it was. I remember seeing the conversion when I was in the checkout process. It shipped out of Florida Fedex ground.

Either way you can't be the price. The mighty is 355

I get a plastic taste when using the crafty. First two or 3 bowls are fine but thats it. Anyone else have this problem?

@Joe557

It could be the smell of the hologram heating up on the top of the CU. Should fade out fast. Never experienced a plastic taste with S&B units. If you really think you are getting plastic or "like-new" taste after 5-10 bowls, something isn't right.

@DMPesso
I'm quite sure they will warranty your unit! When sending in, point out you haven't had it used for more than 21h and everything should be fine. If not, don't be satisfied with standard email answers like @GR got back from S&B and fight in a peaceful "Martin Luther King way" for your right!

@DoubleVanos @Alan Partridge
The Volcano is so good tasting, cloudy and dense, sometimes I just can't believe it vapes so good! But imo, the crafty hits harder because of conduction. I know the color of ABV isn't = extraction grade, but I can only say: pure convection vapes can't overdose me. The crafty can with 3-4 bowls only (not really more than 1 volcano bowl, around 1g). I have a heavy tolerance and was a heavy weed smoker not long ago, have to vape 1 bowl after brushing my teethes and at least 1 bowl while walking with the dog before starting the day with a recreational mood :ko: . The Volcano is really good for a lot of persons. For me only outstanding because of its taste and because I probably will never have to send it out for warranty. If I hadn't had already my experience with it, probably I would have bought one. Way better taste than the Minivap with long whip, I truely think! (dry usage only, don't like WT) But both vape signatures, cano and TCMV, are only pure uplifting thc, imo. The crafty is way more sedative on high temps. But I can understand why people like the Cano so much, and like you said, it is a tank! I have a few friends who didn't learned to be careful and respectful with things (you don't even own!:rant:). I don't like when they abuse my devices. But I let them handle the volcano without any fear.
I found out, if I sleep less than 5,5 hours I'm heavily sedated anyway, my tolerance is cut in a half and the volcano is enough. But I'm so wasted if not vaping carefully enough I can't go to work looking like :science:

@Nicholas
I usually I start vaping at 180'C and finish at 199'C boost mode until there is no more left. Hits harder for me this way. But I vape usually at the upper temp scale.

Edit.: after my long S&B fanboy post I think I have to get a plenty to fill the gap between volcano and mighty :mental:

Edit 2:
@all: don't think you are stealthy because you vape! My mother asked me twice when visiting her if I had smoked MJ (she doesn't know vaping) because I was smelling like half a pound of weed after vaping 15 minutes before and I did not take the crafty with me!
My wife (not smoking or vaping anymore at this time) says my kisses are smelling and tasting like pure weed since I vape exclusevliy (how sweet she is, for me it's a compliment :lol:)
People in the subway are literally starring at me when I have the crafty on me (just used but with empty and cold bowl) .
I feel very uncomfortable when in closed rooms with other people and I have the crafty or mighty with me! Should I get a ryot smell-proof case?

Edit 3:Read my sig before buying a volcano. I prefer the MV even if it's harsher, hotter, not a tank, software goes weird sometimes, no (what am I saying? Does it make sense at all?) and I'm still damn curious about the plenty now... But its so ugly! after re-thinking of my post, my preferences and my previous line-up the whole day at work I think I have VAS. Seriously. I don't think myself it is normal anymore.

But I still think the Plenty could cure all my Needs after re-reading my post :lmao:

I read every page 1 thru 130 while enjoying my new Crafty that I bought last week. Its been a great enjoyable read and I want to thank all the contributors.

Im coming from the Pax. Before that blunts / bowls.

I remember when I first got my pax , I knew I wanted to switch to vaping for the obvious health benefits .. In addition I was also looking forward to the efficiency benefits that vaping supposedly provided.

Since there was prior discussion on what 'efficiency" means .. when I use the word , I am talking about flower conservation.

I enjoyed the pax. Since it was my first and only vaporizer , the taste (compared to blunts) was wonderful. Even better.. I could put that Pax on red and it would almost taste like i was smoking a blunt. All that said.. I would fill up the pax to the hilt (everyone knows a Pax is at its best when fully packed) then unpack the amount that fit in is chamber .. and it would be about enough to fill a blunt (not quite but very close ).

The Pro .. 98% of the time I smoke its with my wife , a friend here and a friend there.. Never really more then 2 ppl.. and the Pax would burn.. Its a great session vape that was instrumental into opening me up to the world of vaping .

The con .. For the amount of flower I was using .. almost enough to fill a blunt . I never came close to the effect vs usage amount efficiency rate with the pax vs blunt .. It would take a full chamber vaped, stirred and then vaped again(sometimes with a splash of fresh herb below the previous vaped remains) at the higher red temperature to get match how I felt after half the blunt.

Now I understand the there are other factors to that such as the additional effects of oxygen being killed by the carbon monoxide you are breathing in due to inhaling fire.

Anyways I write all that to say , although I saw the light in regards to vaping.. With the Pax at least , I wasn't feeling ay of the efficiency benefits I had always heard about thus was a bit disappointed about vaping as a whole and was inconsistent .

And then I discovered the Crafty.

Last week , I decided I was gonna go buy a bowl. I had gotten back to naming blunts pretty heavily. The pax was dirty and I didn't feel like doing the whole cleaning regiment. I had got some super special stuff to enjoy. So I headed to the head shop to buy me a nice lil bowl .

I get there and I start looking lovingly at the volcano. I always wanted one. But Im married with kids.. My wife just isnt with the idea of a blender ballon making thing-a-ma-jig that pumps out balloons of Pot .. Like if my kids walk in on that .... lol .. i see her point .

So me and the store owner our talking .. about our wives.. And long story short , he starts emphatically recommending the crafty. as he is talking I pull out my iPhone.. start checking out reviews.. I saw that the paper critic guy gave it super good score.. I also saw that video y'all have posted earlier in the threads where they did a comparison of the top vapes and each and every reviewer had a crafty (or mighty) as one of their top 2 choices.

So I bought it .. This was wednesday last week. I started at page 1 of this thread and have been coming back and going thru my new journey with my crafty almost in sync with you guys as you went thru yours.

About the Crafty .. what can i say that hasn't been said?

I Love this thing . My method is i pack it to the tilt .. (thats about 1/4th of a blunt fyi) .. I start at 182c and hit that sucka nice and slow for about 15-20'is rips , then i Boost by about 20c and finish it off in another 10 or so rips.. I notice with indicas that thing will just keep on going .. ohh wee..

In terms of efficieny / getting that combustion feeling .. man the crafty is even better then combustion ! There have been multiple times I have ben reading this thread , enjoying m crafty , and completely and utterly unable to even work up the courage to turn the boost on to finish the bowl.. what I'm saying is .. Ive literally tapped out . Now Let me tell you.. I smokes! I can easily face a blunt to my self .. But this crazy man .. like its really an accomplishment to finish a fully packed bowl.. I be wrecked ! lol.. And its not that sleep , just breathed in mad fire high you get from smoking .. its a damn I'm super ridcoulsly high of these flowers effects .. but .. i .. can't . stop ... sipping ... it ... tastes ... so .... damn .... good!!

I went back to the head shop today while i was in the neighborhood .. walked up and shook my mans hand and told him thank you no lie..lol.

I cleaned it for last night .. Im thinking this is gonna be a weakly cleaner. I kinda like it to be not perfectly clean though . Like I'm def not gonna clean it between every session . Im thinking an every sundae regimen.

As I got to the end of the threads , I of course started seeing the threads about the negative issues. I sure hope mine doesn't break ..lol. My pax broke.. the return process with them was fairly simple, I am ok with the fact that it might / probably / eventually at some point obviously definitely break (it can't work forever obviously ) all i ask for is that t either A: gives me my full two years as Storkz and whoever promised me.. or B: If it does break in those two years , they process my claim and get me a new one promptly.

As for my pax.. I gave it to a friend who I think i have a reasonable shot at converting to vaping . I told him he has the pay it forward clause though .. The Pax is great , but I look at it as an entry point into vaping as a whole.. if he is sold on vaping he will eventually want to explore other more capable devices (or devices that better match his particular needs).. at that point I made him promise to give that pax to someone he things he has a reasonable shot at converting to vapeing .. with the same pay it forward clause.. So hoopefully that pax will do for others as it has done for me .. and be the stepping stone to meeting what is in my mind the end all be all currently of portable vaping .. the Crafty.

Oh and one last point before I end this behemoth introductory post .. Evolution is constant . The crafty is cool and the king (for MY particular needs and desired vape style) for now.. But hopefully , just like the crafty came and supplanted my pax , in 2 years when my crafty warranty is about to be up and my crafty is on its last legs,, hopefully something even cooler , better , more efficient comes along .. and then ima be on to that..

But until that day comes.. WOW .. what an upgrade from blunts and pax . Its like night and day . Delicious super thick , milky clouds.. and i get some really great shit .. Its been wasting all these years while i was basically lighting it on fire.. To be able to just sip the sweet vapor nectors !! fucking wow. The Crafty to me .. has been a revelation and a mile stone in my flower smoking career

Epic post dude!
Im on the same page as u are :)
Since u are making a lot of hits, I assume that your sessions last for around 10-15min? Because mine do.
For how many sessions does the battery last you, does it last for 3 seshs?
And is it ever so hot at the end, that u cant start charging it right away until it cools down?
That does happen to me, if my session is long.

I'm considering the crafty but I want to ask you al a few things. I'm all about efficiency. Can I vape less then .1 our of the crafty and get nice clouds ?how,many temps does it have I was confused because the description made it sound like just two. The low and the boost. Thank

Thanks man for following up on this. Really appreciate it. I think the plastic taste is coming from the cooling unit because I can taste the plastic even when not vaping. But, hopefully it's not something worse. I don't know why they made something like this out of plastic. I'll be checking back for any updates you might have. Thanks again man.

Hi, no problem man, if i where you i would also wanted to know how it got fixed. So i heard back from the technician, he told me that there was a problem with my crafty. There was residue from the production proces in the crafty (glue, plastic, Dust...). When he heated it, it had a plastic-ish smell (NOT A 'JUST-NEW-SMELL').

He also gave the hint that if you have a unit with plastic taste, to let it at least warm up 5 times and cool down and then check if its still there. If it's there send it back. If it's going away a little.. Send it back (it means the garbage inside is burning/melting away). Only if its completely gone then it should be fine. (these are a technician his words, not mine)

So i got another unit. With this unit i only had that just-new-smell/taste the first 2-3 times but nothing plastic. The taste is fine and doesn't have that weird 'chemical/plastic' aftertaste.

Personally i don't mind the plastic, because if you search it up, the plastic is cut of from the heating itself by stainless steel. So i already knew it wouldn't be because of the outside plastic (or a piece broke of and fell in, 1 chance in a million probably) but rather from residue or something inside (electronics,...) going wrong.

And to al those who give the comment of it beign the Crafty logo after warming up giving a smell: anyone who can't tell the difference between taste and smell when smoking/vaping (after 10 years smoking personally) should go to the doctor fast! :) something would definitely be wrong with you IMO :p

It was me screaming out the first time a new logo is stinky I think. Don't wanted to offend somebody with a defective unit, even the last post on this wasn't mine. Sry for that. But since I need my nose to get more tastes and nuances than sweet, sour, salty, spicy, and bitter I wanted to point out this fact to new users worrying about s&b materials because nasty smells are fading out. It took me some time until I found this out on a brand new cooling unit directly from s&b with still fresh glue because I never experienced the "like-new" taste from s&b units. I expected people with plastic smell or taste issues to take of just the hologram and get their own experiences!

Thx for your informative post! So, new users should be concerned about the plastic taste.

I'm the kind of guy who can't get the difference between violett and purple, turquoise and cyan, sometimes even between blue or green (maybe this is cyan then) It's hard to talk about colors with me, very subjective. So subjective like all our senses can be.
So excuse if someone couldn't even think of what we hear from you about plastic taste, preheating and burning glue and production particles off. Sounds awful. Sometimes it's hard to get if someone describes more a like-new taste or a plastic taste, at least for me. Disgusting is all I can say. One more reason to get the lotus :lmao:
