If I go with the low temps like 2 aren't I missing out on the CBD? I don't go higher than 2 with sativas anymore on the rare times I do use them. Im so confused by this. Ive read for PM you should go higher temp is that not so if your a lightweight? Im still saving up for 4/20 sales to get some good gear and stuff. I will go down to 3 for now and back to the lighter strains see what changes.

I know there are a lot of active components to MJ but with my pain and inflammation I figured I should be aiming for CBD....
I go by feeling!

I haven't seen it but I will go do a search for here and home. I think my family would be ok with delivery as long as it was after the kiddos were sound asleep. Its hard not being able to get stuff delivered while im here :(. Ive seen blues and ive seen cheese butnot together :p I will look for that too.

I go by feeling!

Haha fair point. I guess its harder for me to go by since I don't have a frame of reference from before I was sick. Sometimes im not sure if its my body or the mj. I have dizziness and hearty issues anyway so it could just be a bad day and not a bad hit ya know?

Different strains affect folks in different ways I guess it's trial and error.

I think the Cheese strain available in Canada/USA is a indica strong hybrid as real cheese is clone only and quite a buzzy head and stinks beyond all belief no good on the sly.

It's pretty much the most common strain in my area it might be called uk cheese abroad? Again I think this is a hybrid unless clones have gone to America.

Yeah it is a bit of a mystery I just like having guidelines to start with. I mean between the two walk ins out here I have around 60 choices ATM way to much to sort through alone. So I take the reccs and find out their genetic origins then go down the list and see if any have similar linage and on and on. After that all I can do is try and find out.

Usually odor isn't much of an issue unless the scent itself is nauseating then its a problem lol . At home my parents don't much care and here I just go out to the garage or patio when everyone is inside the scent goes away pretty quick. I think as soon as I can afford it im getting a MFLB for my purse and traveling the solo is kind of clunky to carry around the house all day. I either have to have it in my purse with me or locked up when im with family and kiddos. The MFLB can fit in a mint tin rather than the padded diabetic bag my solo currently resides in.

Thanks for elaborating on the cheese strain :)

ETA: Todays experiment is for a daytime hybrid. Hawaiian Mango (Hawaiian + Mango Kush). Two hits on level 2 and we shall see how it goes :). Just a few minutes in ATM the initial hit was a head rush but mellowed quickly. Starting to feel it in my eyes now maybe 5 minutes in. Its supposed to get more indica feeling 15 - 20 minutes in.

Hi @GenYHippie thanks for sharing your journey. I think so many folks are becoming either new users or returning to use after a long spell of dryness due to the drug wars and legal issues and lack of access. We are still in the dark ages though, some day we will understand better the "entourage effect" of not just the THC and CBD but all of the other discovered (and possibly yet to be discovered) cannabinoids, as well as the terpenoids, and other molecules. Not to mention our pre-existing chemical makeup; some folks will need more of one thing than the other, what makes one person well will make one person uncomfortable. I recently went to a talk by the author of the book "Marijuana, Gateway to Health" (Clint Werner) and picked up the book. The science is really fascinating and moving quickly. Perhaps reading this will give you some more insight into the research that has already been done (much in other countries, but some here in the US) and how to tap into it yourself. We are not at the level of identifying strains for specific ailments yet (and I think the Werc Shor or another testing lab wrote a great article comparing test results of strains -- strain names are misleading because the same strain can have a different name at a different dispensary or in another town, or there might be two purportedly-different strains that test identically!). Plus, different plants in a strain (unless they are clones) can have vastly different cannabinoid/chemical composition. It is truly a wacky world if you are trying, as you are, to address something specific in an organized fashion. But I truly admire the persistence and attention to detail you have shown; surely you will find something soon. Maybe it is just one particular strain from one dispensary, vaped at a certain temperature (and in a given amount; often I have thought of investing in a gram scale to weigh my ground flower so I could judge better based on outcomes). Best of luck!

Of coarse Caliwisp! I received such a warm helpful generous welcome if sharing how I work my though this helps someone else im glad :). Im a bit of a nerd and my sister teaches several of the sciences we had fun going over the terpenes the other day lol I even got her to smell my kens GDP to see what she thought was in it!

I do want to read some more MJ literature. So far ive been doing my reading online in forums, e-zines, and medical studies ive been able to hunt down more than the summary of. The guy my aunt put me in touch with his son is a MJ scientist in San Francisco so he will drop off stuff when he see's his dad and I call his dad to get the new bits after he reads it over.

Like you said there is still so much you have to just take their word for. Im fortunate enough to be a legal state with dispensaries geared towards medical needs but I still do my research. My "home" dispensary is pretty good about listing alternate names (like Elvis aka Blue Maui) or the parent plants from the private grower. If it came from a particular seed bank it appear they list it.

A scale is a great investment. I got a cheapie off amazon for $9 that goes up to 100 grams which is fine for the amounts I use. It tests accurate by the bud I get (they put exact weight on package) and pre measured food items. Mine only has 3 functions (gram, ounce, and another I forget lol) but they have a 5 function for $15 that does carats, grams, troy ounce, ounce, and I still forget the other one :p. It will be especially nice for edibles and salve but good if you grow or buy large amounts.

I see you have some GDP already. I was coming into the thread to suggest it! Hows it working for you?

Second suggestion (since were talking about terps and good smells) would be Tangie (also spelled Tan-g sometimes for some reason ). My wife who hates the smell of MJ thought I had spiked the jar with tangerine peel when I let her smell it with her eyes closed. Amazing stuff. Very mellow high too.

Also have you tried Tetra Labs' Pure Gold?

Thanks @GenYHippie for encouraging me to get a scale. I think I will treat myself today and order one from Amazon! It's hard not to geek out and get too many tools and toys, but like you say, this really helps with the "scientific inquiry". The writer/researcher I mentioned, Clint Werner, is also out of SF. Does the fellow you mentioned publish anything (even on a website)? Have a lovely day.

ETA: Forgot to mention that I tried the 420 bar last night. I wasn't in the mood to be dizzy and all that stuff again so I waiting till I was nearly asleep and I took one of my "safety" meds to head off any bizarre stomach contractions like ive had before. I only took 1/6th of a serving (1 segment) I was trying to break it into quarters but it just wasn't happening lol. I figured to little is better than too much and scaring myself again.

I still had some anxiety about it but not as bad as before. Nothing went terribly wrong thank goodness :) but it was a little uncomfortable with the tingling. The more heady symptoms weren't that bad but I had my head under the pillow to block out the extra light. Also being entirely flat on my stomach helps me manage the spins better.

Will likely try again tonight if all goes well today. Only thing I notice so far is that my eyes are more heavy than usual. Depending on how I feel I may try 1/4 - 1/3 of a serving but will probably still do it right before I think im going to fall asleep.

Still trying to focus on just getting it in my system daily and see how I feel. The idea of nighttime edibles is especially appealing due to their long acting nature. Oh as far as taste (I have the sea salt flavor) its not bad but you can taste it. Its a hint of charred grass in salted chocolate lol essentially what it is :p. Nothing that would bother me even eating a whole serving. Though I should mention its really one you should suck on unless you have strong teeth. The salt is very chunky like a salt grinder texture not pre-ground table salt not something you want to bite down on.

I see you have some GDP already. I was coming into the thread to suggest it! Hows it working for you?

The GDP was not to kind to me :( . Even 1 hit was too much for me. I have Kens GDP though so im not opposed to trying another down the line. I may try it at a lower temp too see if that helps any. Interesting I don't remember seeing anything described or named with tangie. Good to know its nice and mellow I will keep an eye out.

I haven't tried pure gold yet. My dispensary only has caps and my body cant tolerate gelatin nor am I good with pills anyway. Im a fraidy cat about opening up the caps due to cross contamination with the gelatin.

Awesome I hope you like it :). While your ordering you might want to get calibrations weights while you at it they run $5 - $15 depending how on many you get. Or you can do like me and hunt around for an unopened pre-weighed item ;).

D's son hasnt published anything I know of. I can ask though :). He used to work in Silicon Valley I think he studied plant compounds for use in medication for heart issues.... I don't know for sure he has worked in MJ for years now.

Hmm I am conflicted. Im trying to make the most of this months sales and I cant decide what to do. So here are some things im thinking chime in if you have some input :).

1. I know I want a water tool. The thing is I cant decide if I should get one for my solo or get a table top vape (something with temp control at the lower end of the price range like an Easy Vape Digital) and get one for that instead... Currently im leaning towards table top because at least if I don't try to make it portable i wont break it. Plus I can get a decent table vape for $80 - $100 whereas smaller water tools can cost much more.

2. I don't know if I have enough saved up to get the MFLB and the rest of what I want. I want something tiny to use with bud when im out and about the solo isn't exactly stealthy to carry or use without some strategy. My issue is since im a low temp user im not sure if it will get me too wasted to fast. I know there is a learning curve but if anyone else who uses low temp (solo level 2 usually so 365F) can advise me id appreciate it. I don't usually get clouds (nor do I care about that) so im not sure if I could get the hang of doing it "blind".

3. I need to invest in some storage containers. preferably glass but as I don't know what works for me I don't want to get a ton of jars. How long should I expect meds to stay decent in plastic? I can divide it up by getting some on sale now then just get 2 or so every month while im figuring out what works.

Jyarz for storage. There's a thread on FC. I think it's jyarz.com
These are the best. They hold about 3 gms, and keep bud amazingly fresh.

Unfortunately, I am way too medicated to help with any of the rest, as I can't remember all the good stuff I know!!

Message the Jyarz dude. He's got others - he's been trying several kinds. He may have some of the other non-latex ones still.

Ah, yes... it was the (herbalaire?) I've heard on the threads here that it is a very versatile, easy-to-use, table top vaporizer that will do bags or whip. Very inexpensive. It was actually on my short list at first, but I went Vapir NO2 instead, and I wish I would have gone the other way!

Someone should be able to chime in on that... I think @lwien maybe has one, not sure.

Oh cool I saw they said they were working on silicone I didn't know they were out yet. Thanks for the input on the table top im going to go check out that herbalaire. Just curious can you use just glass with tabletops? I don't like the idea of tubing whips.

The Herbalaire is great, but it seems like a log would serve you much better (small amounts, easy to dose, ease of use, etc.).

The HA, and logs can be used without any tubing/whips. They both work great upside down.

I have a small drawer full of glass jars that are perfect for storage. From large on down to babyfood sized. A few of those silica packs if I'm going for long term storage.

A straight tube (or small beaker) can be had for around 50-60. A great investment.

(I'm using small piece of silicon to mate the stainless steel tip to the glass)

Well, sure. My mainstay favorite is a log, the Nano. However, it is, I thought, a bit higher-priced than I thought you were looking for, and I thought that with your experimenting, you would want to try bags & whips as your alternates. Yes, whips will work with water, but for water use, I'd use the Nano (or another log vape), where you just have glass on glass for your vapor path (SS screens feel safe to me, too).

Logs are amazingly efficient with herb, so you will have your meds last longer, generally speaking, than with a vape with a larger bowl area.

Ok tonight experiment Big Bud. Certainly light which is what I was going for. Without a tolerance it way to easy for me to overmedicate. Traveling today I already knew I wouldn't be eating solids so the nausea is already a bit lower. Currently im close to 4 hours post RX med (starts kicking in in 45 minutes after that I can only count on about an hour and a a half of reduction) and I am barely queasy!

No weird spins, heart racing, or funny eye feel just very...I think content is the best word. There is so much to stress about this next week but it just isn't bothering me. No racing thoughts no dwelling its awesomely quiet in my head right now. Ive watched a movie (currently watching another) and one episode of bates motel and I have not a care in the world i can think of right now. Not getting the drowsiness I was hoping for is the only negative I can think of. Solo ran out of battery mid session so I plugged in to finish and decided to stop there. Don't want t push my luck on a new strain. Im very happy with my clearance shelf 1/8th thus far.

Ok i need some votes. Here are the hybrids i got -

1g Sweet Lady
3.6g Cherry Pie
2g GSC
2g Berry Kush

I need help picking what to try. If you have experience with these i need something not too speedy but not heavily sedating. None of these were lab tested so the only thing i know is that the sweet lady was harvested early. Take into account i have like zero tolerance.

So far strains ive liked -
Querkle
Big Bud
Jack Herer (in general too racy so i dont use it often)
Hawaiian mango was ok but not great.

What should i start with?
