THCa

Hello all

Anyone have any experience with THCa flower and vaping? the science is there that it should hit/feel/smell the same as traditional dispensary flower. I've always been a theory to practice person myself so I would like to know. What are all of the Ents experiences and opinions here on FC? I bought myself some high THCa flower and wax on line that will be delivered friday. I'm hopeful this will be a good alternative as my state is still stuck loosing the war on drugs. I've always enjoyed type 2 flower for the entourage effect and this looks like possibly a good way to be able to find type 2 regularly.

I really enjoy it. I have a med card but prefer the convenience of thca vendors. It’s the same to me. Only difference I notice is you never get skunky smelling buds, but strains like Tropicana for example smell the same
Have you noticed if you're able to get "popular" strains in THCa. Also do you buy online and if so what sites have you found to be reputable?

Enlightened hemp, the hemp barn, upstate hemp, wildflower, black tie (they used to have a bad rep but turned it around imo), Preston hemp co are the vendors I use and are all very popular. Yeah a lot of popular strains do exist. I got mac1 and Donny burger this week for example

At this point I'm disapointed I haven't looked into this earlier.

I don't understand what you mean by "THCa flower".

As far as I'm aware, THCa is the THC that is normally in flower until it gets decorated into THC by various processes (smoking, vaping, cooking, etc), which is when it can be absorbed and used by our body.

This "THCa Flower" sounds like a bullshit lying advertising gimmick, because normal cannabis flower that we have all known and loved since the beginning of recorded time has always been "THCa" flower, till we do our chemistry thing to consume the THCa as THC as we humans have always done with THCa since we first started using it a long time ago.

exactly
dry herb weed contains a lot of THCa and tiny amounts of THC. THCa converts to THC D9 with heat..
for example usually top shelf weed contains around 30% or even 35% THCa and maybe 2% of THC D9

Current law is hemp has to test under .3% thc for a vendor to be able to sell. The lawmakers created a loophole where you can have whatever level of total thc as long as thca is under .3 when tested. It’s not a gimmick, just a loophole in current laws

Edit: sorry thc needs to be under .3%, not thca!

Man that's hilarious, so it's just regular weed?

I thought this was about the hemp that they were spraying 'noids on!

The reason some lab tests display the number solely as THC is because some of the spectroscopy machines result in a decarboxylation during the testing process.

I've had to spend time in some dry areas recently, so I tried some. It's definitely regular ol weed. Though, I get the impression they pull the plants early or something to stay under the THC limits. Not as terpy as non hemp flower. But it's a normal delta 9 THC high.

So yeah. The government accidentally legalized Mids by Mail!

I have been using THCa rich flower for well over a year and a half now. In the beginning it was very much lawless feeling and you found hot strains through word-of-mouth. Today many of the breeders openly advertise as having high THCa options. I don't know how accurate this is but the exchange from THCa to THC is something like 80% (don't quote me on this, and do your own research for the actual percentage).

The terpens of many of the strains I've had are subpar, and I mostly blame this on many companies quick/cold dry and cure. The effects are okay, but I refer to it as weed lite, as it just doesn't slap like regular ol type 1 flower.

Honestly if you look at a lot of dispensary buds they’re just marginally over .3% thc. Like .45 or something

I think that is backwards if I understand correctly, you can have as much thca as you want and the thc % has to stay under .3.

From what I've seen the good "thca" flower can be just as good as dispensary weed in Socal at least. the stuff I got recently hits better than most of my dispensary flower.

This may be true, but the only thing I can compare it to is Black Market and homegrown. I have had some of the "better" brands and they for sure are leagues behind any homegrown.

Not sure if this is still accurate, but I remember reading that HEMP farmers do not have to adhere to the same standards as flower grown for dispensary market, meaning the use of pesticides and chemicals? I have yet to do more research, but something to consider?

You’re right. Mistyped it. Added an edit

Monk Debate

The monks do be debatin’
I got turned onto THCa strains through another thread on FC, and I've ordered a few. The ones I've had benefited from some curing, but the effects are no-nonsense straight up weed effects. Like shit, these strains are no joke. And yes, I do find it hilarious that in their attempts to legalize a subsection of marijuana to enrich Mitch McConnell (he's invested heavily in hemp), the US government accidentally legalized marijuana nationwide and it can now be sent through the mail more easily than alcohol.

I got AK-47 and sour diesel from CBDhemp.direct last week. Both under $200/oz and both kicked ass. It's a loop hole in the 2018 hemp farm bill. If THC is under 3% it is hemp by law. THCa can be anything. Through carboxilation the THCa becomes THC. The Feds are sure to come down on this. Enjoy while you can. One "hempsite" had 1/4 pounds of Tahoe og for $170 a few weeks ago.

He's one of those guys who managed to build a 300 million nest egg on a 200k salary. But hey, go for it Mitch. Sell me out to Big Hemp. For once having a bought and sold government breaks our way.

HighTimes had a story about THCa, when I looked into it the price was considerably higher than what I pay locally for high THC flower, even after the 20% cannabis state tax is added
