I know the subject of this thread is EXTREMELY controversial on these boards, so take my

A PD/MZ Comparison Review
Uh oh.
I searched before I posted and found this excellent comparison review by IAmKrazy2, and for the most part I concur with his findings. I wouldn't have bothered to post this except that Tom, the creator of the PD, sent me an email asking me not to compare the PD/MZ had I not used both, which I thought was a little weird given that the only comparison I've done is write "pd/mz" instead of just one or the other when I ask a question or write a comment concerning that type of vaporizer on these boards. But the reason I do that is because I have an MZ, my best smoking buddy has a PD, and basically they do the same thing.
I won't bother to describe the function of either, because if you don't know then you don't care about this. So I will just list a few bullet points, mainly about differences because that's why you're still reading.
- Vapor production - PD does produce more visible vapor, especially with both on a 12v adapter. It is not a ton more, but you do notice the difference, especially in dark rooms and through a bong. I do prefer the MZ on a 13.5v adapter for the milkier-looking hits, and even with it the PD does still produce a bigger visible cloud, however I find that both require the extra juice to release those cbd's if that's what you're looking for, which I am.
My take on this whole situation though is that if you want fat, milky hits, use a whip vape. Or a blunt wrap and a bic.
- Stealth - The PD's LED and design do make it look more marijuana-y. Not to a huge degree, but if you live in a dorm or your mom's house I'd go with the MZ if you're worried about having to convince somebody that it's really for essential oil.
- Stems - Stems are not interchangeable, I forget which is which but one kinda works in the other, not really though. I like the MZ stems better, though I have considered attempting to create my own. I think I could do better than either one, honestly.
- Durability and Health - I guess those YouTube videos "prove" as much as advertising can that the PD is durable, however I can't say I'm inclined to test the MZ durability on my own vape for the community's benefit, sorry
As far as health goes, I can't comment one way or another. I brought these two things up because there could be possible important differences here, but no way for me to know one way or the other.
- Vakedness - This is really the point, isn't it? And this is where the differences end, IMO. The reason I know that is because I am never disappointed to go to my friend's house and load my herb in his PD, nor is he reluctant to do the same in my MZ. I have days where I've used either one exclusively, and really can't notice the difference. Both require the 13.5v adapter to move from that clear THC high to the stoniness, and both me and my friend use the bigger voltage 24/7 nowadays, though sometimes I wish I had another unit on the 12v for wake and bakes.
Bottom Line: I ordered my MZ with a bit of hesitation, wondering why their competitor had so many reservations while the other had hardly any waiting period. And when I got my MZ I was a bit disappointed with the vapor cloud, to be honest. But the 13.5v adapter changed that, and when my buddy FINALLY got his PD a couple of weeks later, I saw that it ain't exactly producing bong rips either. Essentially, if my MZ was stolen or lost today, I would order another one because the PD waiting period wouldn't be worth it to me. But if they were both stocked by my local headshop and the same price, I would get the PD for the slightly thicker clouds. But the "effect," and basically everything else, would be the same either way. Really though, if you want milky hits, buy an SSV or w/e and a bong. I invested in a nice setup just recently, and it is a completely different type of vaping. I enjoy both, PD/MZ for casual vaping, SSV + SYN Showercap for getting really baked or impressing visitors (if you haven't seen a Showercap yet check these photos, best bong in the world IMO).
