Viva La Vape "The Riot"

Hey everyone. The local wholesale shop near my home has a few vaporizers for sale, but they all look like cheap Chinese imitations. The only one that looks worth trying is the Viva La Vape "The Riot", which had a signficantly higher price tag (around $120).

Granted from the research I've done, Viva La Vape comes off gimmicky. I can't seem to find any real reviews for it, just a lot of marketing hype. The company has a video demonstration up on YouTube but it seems like a sales pitch, though the dual temp reader and replaceable fuse sounds convincing. Unfortunately they're manufactured in China so I've contacted the company to ask if their product comes with a warranty. (They've claimed on websites that they stand behind their product)

Any personal testimony or information regarding this vaporizer would be highly appreciated!

It's a cheap generic. I'm sure the same vape is available under other names. If you make a big enough quantity order at the source, they'll put whatever name on 'em you want. I seriously doubt you'll get any manufacturer warranty at all. You'll have to depend on whatever the seller gives you. If you're limited to that shop for your purchase, you'll have to choose from what they have and pay a premium. Your choices and prices are much better on-line. For $120, a Magic Flight box would be a better buy. And you'll get their lifetime warranty. And for a little more than that $120, you can pick up an Arizer V-Tower on eBay. If you buy the 'Riot' you'll have to cross your fingers that it's safe and will hold up. Halfbakedgoods on eBay claims to be the exclusive distributor for Viva La Vape and they only provide a 30 day guarantee.

Thanks so much for the reply. My instincts have been telling me not to purchase the product so I'll likely pass on it.

I've seen the Magic Flight Box online before and it does look very cool, but I'm more interested in a desktop or box vaporizer; the battery aspect doesn't sound as effective to me (but I've read they can use AC adapters). The V-Tower sounds great, I'll be looking more into that! I don't need the best-of-the-best when it comes to vaporizers, but anything that's decent quality and won't break and can be bought for no higher than $150 would be ideal.

Do you have any recommendations for the the box-style vaporizers like the Easy Vape, Vapor Bros, and Hot Box?

If you can stretch just a wee bit more:
HerbalAire
Purple Days
MyrtleZap
Da Buddha (blem)

Thanks, I'm willing to stretch but would prefer to settle for something that's almost as good for less. I'll be looking into all those! :)

Doesn't exist. What does exist for less is a LOT less good, in my VERY humble opinion. ;)

Edit: Another vape to throw into that mix is the Magic Flight Launch Box with their Power Adapter.

The Easy Vape can be had on eBay for around $50-60, and that's all I'd pay. It's probably the best of the cheap box vapes though. The Vapor Bros is over $200 now, and there's no way I'd pay that much for a box with a down angle on the whip. The Hot Box is OK, but I can't see paying that much for this type of vape and not getting temp control.

If I were you I'd use an FC discount code retailer discounts and get a DBV. It's a much improved box design and one of the most popular models on the market. It'll run you about $160 and IMO is head and shoulders above the ones you mention, especially the Easy Vape.

lol keep the opinions coming, I love it! :) One other product I've been interested in is the VaporStar. I like the versatility of it more than the VaporGenie, plus it costs less. Can you get good vapor hits from the VaporStar or is it essentially not any different than the old homemade light bulb trick?

I did some quick searching on eBay and found a couple Arizer V-Towers for only $109 free shipping! I'm very tempted to snatch one up!

In my opinion you do yourself a disservice by hunting for the cheapest. A "bargain" is more likely to fail or just be unsatisfying. Many people find that vaporizing lets them stretch their material further and so the unit pays for itself in short order, so spending a few more dollars to get something reliable is money well invested. On the other hand, some people blast through their stash with a heavy hitter like the DBV or the SSV. Your costs could actually go up.

Bargain-hunting on eBay has its perils. Make sure the seller is an authorized dealer for the V-Tower, for example. Arizer might not honour the warranty if they are not. Check the threads here to see which dealers are trusted and which units are well thought of.

Finally, I will warn you now: if you find that vaporizing suits you, you will almost certainly want more than one, if for no other reason than backup.

With the other reason being for no apparent reason. ;)

Case in point. I am seriously thinking about getting a LaunchBox and I have absolutely no reason to justify getting one, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. All it does is lengthen the internal debate. :|

Or wait until another blemished one shows up here 7thfloor for 130$. It usually doesn't take more than a few weeks if you're not in a hurry.

True, been there myself. I ended up using about 3 times the amount that I used to smoke with my SSV. Still wouldn't have wanted to miss the experience though. I'm back down to the old amount with the Solo now btw, so still not saving any money (but that wasn't the reason why I started vaping anyway).

Thanks for your thoughts. Is there a compilation thread of trusted dealers? Here's a few deals I found on eBay for the V-Tower.:

$108.95 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-NEW-V-...067?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f099ff713

$109.99 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ARIZER-...743?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56459ed5a7

$119.96 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-2011-Ar...617?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23138fb1c1

I think I could live without the warranty if need be. The main issue on these units that concerns me is the glass inside that's been known to break and render the machine dysfunctional. This isn't covered by the warranty and you can either send it in for repairs or buy a glass replacement to repair it yourself.

I'm also thinking about just buying a VaporStar to hold me back in the mean time. There's one on eBay for only $34 and I've read a lot of good things even though it's not temperature adjustable.

On second thought, maybe I will purchase a Magic Flight Box. They seem to do a good job and a lot of people love them. I have some extra cash coming in now so I can afford to spend a little more, even better if I can find one for under $100. Plus the one thing that concerns me about ordering a full-sized vaporizer is that it's less stealthy once it arrives to my home (I still live with my parents unfortunately and rather not be pestered about any large packages I receive in the mail).

Does attaching a whip to the Magic Flight Box work well or does it just get in the way for such a small device? I'd like to get an AC adapter for it as well. EDIT: After seeing the official power adapter, I think I'll pass! I was hoping it would be more conventional instead of hooked up to a battery. If they ever design a new Magic Flight Box, it would be great if they had a seperate input port for a AC adapter.

That's a shame. I don't think you've grasped how small the LB is. The PA is, from all reports, a perfect companion for the LB. I can almost guarantee that they'll never do a design that includes a separate AC input port, for a whole bunch of reasons. The PA is not hooked up to a battery, the connection to the LB is made with the same form factor as a AA battery. If you understood how the LB works you would see why they did this, and in fact how clever the solution is.

Have you not read all of the glowing reports on the PA? The overwhelming majority state that not only does it work great, but in fact, takes the LaunchBox to a whole other level.

That sounds great, but question: what is a PA? I can't find anything from searching Google and I'm not good at figuring out these acronyms. Thanks!

EDIT: Ahh my dumbass found what you meant: "power adapter" (I always say AC). Didn't know it had temp control on it, that's awesome! I still think it's a little ridiculous that you have to press in the battery part to operate it like you normally would and the cord itself is rather "clunky". I'd like to see an updated design to the MFB to make the adapter a little more conventional and streamline. I'll likely pass on the adapter for now since it's so damn expensive, but I'll keep an eye on it - thanks for the heads up!

You don't have to push the "battery" in. There is a button on the back and a small nub on the end of the "adapter" extends to contact the inside of the box. It's tough to explain, but if you get your hands on the box you'll realize that a more conventional adapter would mean a very different vaporizer.

Thanks for the clarification, all of this will make much more sense to me once I have one in my hands. Speaking of which, I ordered one off eBay for $90 shipped :D ! I'm so excited, can't wait for it to arrive! Who woulda thunk such a small and simple device could hold up so well in the world of vaporizers?
