Using ABV hash, can I use it the same as flower?

Recently began vaping since I felt smoking hash in my pipe was starting to affect my throat and lungs, started looking into vaping and landed on ordering a Dynavap M.

Now, at the same time I started reading about ABV, wondering what it was. So the norm seems to be flower, but I don't have that available that often, and mostly get hash.

Can I use the hash ABV to cook with the same as flower? Any tips or tricks? :)

Welcome to FC! I would think that ABV hash would have very little value vs. ABV flower. I am sure that others will be along shortly to add to the thread.

It will have given all of its value to you through the act of vaporizing it, I would think. Because the hash is a more refined version of the flower, there would be less favorable/usable compounds left over once the hash was "fully vaped".

ABV means already been vaped. You can throw it out after use or you can make ABV oil or edibles, many choices. You can not make ABV into hash.

I've collected a bunch of ABV over the last few years and during that time I've tried everyting I can think of to make use of it. However, IMO, the only place for ABV is the compost pile.

I have tried to use hash ABV in coconut oil and it gave me a buzz but I don't think it was worthwhile. The high was not good enough even though I don't enjoy vaping hasj untill it is spent.

Yes, I'm vaping good old hard hash. :)

Yesterday I felt like I had saved up enough ABV from my hash vaping, I had two days off from work and nothing special planned, so I figured I'll give it a try. I've tried several times with hash and fat together, low temperature along with butter in a pan and it slowly melts together and then consume that.. and haven't had any results. Maybe a tiny buzz from it.
But with this ABV hash yesterday? It worked great! I was high all day and I even woke up still with a bit of a buzz that has been slowly fading today. I'm glad I had two days off because I would not have been able to come in to work this morning. :)

Was your previous attempt with butter made with hash that was not vaped?
It could be that you actually decarboxylated the hash the other time when you where vaping and therefore it gives you more thc and not so much thca.

Hash in vapes works best if it is mounted in a way that expose most of the material directly to high temperature. If you put pieces of hard hash in you vape it is possible that much of the content inside those pieces will not be spent.

One really nice way to get around the issues with hard hash is to extract the oil and then vape the oil.

Hey relaxativas,

Yes, just use it like you would use ABV from flowers. I'm also vaping a lot of traditional morrocan hash in my Dynavap Vapes, seems like you figured out already by yourself but I'm happy to share my experiences with ABV from it.

My own rule of thumb is as follows:
I use the cap to scratch all remains of the hash out of the tip and collect it on a piece of paper to check consistency of the material left. Now I try to form a ball out of it. If this doesn't work because the ABV is too brittle or dusty, I dismiss it. If it forms into a ball again there seems to be enough oils left in it to make further use of it.
When I've gathered 0.5g to 1g of an ABV hash ball I consume it without further processing.

The leftover hash is already decarbed you can simply throw it in and chew it, but since this tastes a little too funky I tend to look out for something to mask the taste, preferably something with a high fat content. The fat helps the body to process the ABV and let the effects kick in a little faster. Sprinkle on a pizza, whirl in a yoghurt, mix it with peanut butter all works equally good for me.
Baking/Cooking is also possible with it, just mix it with your pastry. But make sure you use a recipe with the heat under 160°C or the precious leftover THC is gone while your cookies still getting ready. Coconutmacaroons work very well. ;)

hope this helps and good luck :)

Yeah exactly, unvaped hash the first times, along with just fat. I melted it on very low temperature in butter, making sure not to cook it, and it looked great, hash butter. :) But after consuming it I never felt much, so I guess you're right, and vaping it decarboxylated the hash. So going from smoking hash, using it once, to vaping it and using it twice, sweet!

And I usually just use the cap to mix the hash around in the tip after a few hits, so that all of it gets exposed to the heat and can be vaped, seems to work well for me.

I like your rule of thumb horst, feels simple and good! I will use that one, thanks for sharing. :)

As for eating it, yeah, I can't say I enjoyed it last time even though I tried to take it with a slice of cheese and some hot sauce, but I got it down at least. But next time I think I'll prepare it a little better, mixing it with peanutbutter should work pretty well!
