Thoughts about getting a DUI/OVI, etc from THC

I recently saw a YT video that showed someone getting pulled over in a legal THC state, and they hadn't been drinking, and they didn't have any MJ on them, but they ended up getting a ticket for driving while intoxicated. The video didn't show the test, but I assume it was a blood or urine test.

I did some research, and it seems that different states have different concentration levels that make it illegal. Also my research showed that regular users of MJ are likely to fail those tests even if we haven't had any MJ that day at all, because of it lingering in our system.

In the state I am in, they don't have a "legal limit" and base it completely on an officer's testimony of his opinion of if a driver was too high or not.

I'm wondering what people do in states that do have a limit. How do you make sure (or at least give yourself a chance) that if you get pulled over, that you aren't going to get busted even if you aren't actually high at the time.

I once saw a guy driving with his elbows while he was holding a big glass piece in one hand, and the lighter in the other, and was driving while hitting it. I thought that was really pushing his luck.

they have DUI for cannabis intoxication in Maryland as well. As far as i know there is no field sobriety that is used.

Full disclosure (statue of limitations have expired) driven drunk (but not totally inebriated), driven high and tripping.
These days i try to avoid driving high and don't drink that much anyway. I know my reaction time is not as great. But i also think that when you are high you are more aware of your condition (unlike being drunk) and drive more cautiously. Also one time i drove high and weather got really difficult sleeting and everything. Not fun. So i really try and avoid it. I also recognize when i am high my skiing suffers.

I know they are trying to create something like a breathalyzer for weed but don't know how widely that is used. I think the big problem with this type of test is how persistent THC levels remain in the system. Its really hard to analyze the amount of THC in the time of the system at the time someone is stopped.

I was in a friend's car once when he was stopped and the car reeked. Luckily nothing came out of it but a ticket for the driver, but it was a bit scary

Here in southern Europe (Spain) we have police tests that use the driver' saliva.
Unfortunately it has no range of calibration, it's just about psycoative cannabinoid compounds lingering in your body.
It's the same test for different substances, from weed to cocaine, also meths and who knows.
The issue with that is about being binary: you've got it or you don't. OTOH alcohol testing uses concentrations in your breath or bloodstream

In France if you get pulled over they'll do a saliva test. If you're positive (test sensitivity is very high) you get fined 500€, they take your keys and driving license and you're now a pedestrian. then you get a urine test in a lab a few days after. If positive your license is suspended for at least 6 months during which you'll have at least two urine tests and if both are negative AND you've been to (and pay) a few driving classes then you get your license back. If you repeat offense you can go to jail. It happened, true story.

They choose to test for drugs depending on your look and your car. I've been pulled over a few times and never got the test.

"- good evening officer,
- stop the engine, license please.
Comply
-
have you been drinking ?
- no
- when was the last time you smoked a joint ? (Notice the wording of this sentence).
- I don't smoke madam" (which is true :D)
- here's your license, good evening
- good evening madam"

Makes sure the policemen notice your kid in the backseat, that's a joker.

Is it legal to use in your own home in Spain and France? If not, then I get why they are so harsh with those tests, but if it's legal, that makes it basically illegal to drive if you are a regular user, even if you haven't used it before driving. Yikes!

In Spain it is permitted but in France it is not. Mind you CBD hemp is legal but heavy CBD users still get a negligible amount of THC in their bloodstream. The saliva tests are so sensitive than they get triggered even for CBD users.
Basically CBD is only legal for pedestrians and cyclists.

We have the saliva test strips here in UK too
So there's a lot of people driving around with mouthwash at hand in case they get stopped

I dunno to be quite honest as I don't actually drive
But I do know that there was a product that you could buy here called something like Breathe Clear that was just Listerine Zero and red food dye that they claimed worked
And I've read numerous reports of people claiming to have used Listerine Zero to pass
