Questions like:
Will this ever catch on in the US? (never mind..........see edit)

Is the crowd reacting to the performance of the band or more to the performance of the hologram (is it a hologram or some other form of animation).

Do you find this kind of odd..........or not?

Has the audience, temporarily at least, suspended their beliefs that this is in fact, not a real person?

And look at the crowds that "she" draws (the 2nd and 3rd vids captures the size of the arenas). Pretty neat.

For me, I find these Vocoloid performances pretty amazing. For info, check here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocaloid

Edit: Regarding concerts in the US, I just saw this. Concert ticks going from 55 to 150 bucks. She's on a full-blown USA tour with the opening concert at the 7100 seat Microsoft theater in Los Angeles. http://www.songkick.com/artists/2726386-hatsune-miku

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
I find the Japanese odd in general really, for many reasons, I won't go into too much detail but mostly sexual and animal related.

Ever heard of The Gorilliaz?

They've been around since '98 and if they incorporate this tech I would pay big bucks to see them.

Those kids comments are very insightful as well as hilarious!

Vocaloids was software I looked into some time ago, when I struggle to find vocal samples and can't sing, I also have a 'would you believe it' Japanese artist on my label that uses this software for the vocals on their tracks.

I think creating a virtual pop-star is a bit much, but then again, as @h3rbalist says, it's kinda what the 'Gorillaz' were doing, though I think initially it was because Albarn wanted to hide his face due to being in Blur.
