I think it's more a case of crappy TikTok web coding for browser compatibility. I don't even have a TikTok account. With Edge or Chrome in Windows, it shows a short clip of a cat being dumped out of a vase.

I never tried the laptop.
I've a laptop with Edge in windows. In future I will try viewing these there. Thanks for the tip!
