Really bitter tasting cannabis...Why?

I tried some cannabis that upon visual inspection looked to be good; sparkly, not crushed/etc, but when I hit off a Pandora it was incredibly bitter, like I had accidentally put nail polish remover in my mouth (they add a bittering agent so kids don't drink it).

Did I inhale anything bad, or are some strains just like that?

For the record, it's definitely greener than some other stuff I have seen...hard to describe, but I'll try to find pictures. The stuff I have seen is more of a brownish/tan/green and the bitter stuff was deep, darker green.

Unless you know the strain and what it is supposed to taste like I am gonna assume it is just the flavor of the strain.

Improperly flushed? Try combusting it and see if it sparks.

I'd guess improper flushing or growing techniques as well.
