Quantabis – Smart Dab Scale w/ NFC Strain Tracking (Early Dev, Feedback Welcome)

Quantabis is a smart dab-tracking platform that combines a precision scale and NFC-enabled dab slicks to automatically track cannabinoid intake after a session.

The idea: place your slick on the device before and after a dab — it logs the weight difference, reads the strain data, and calculates how much THC/CBD you just consumed.

What it does:

• Reads slick's strain metadata via NFC
• Measures pre/post dab weight to determine delta
• Calculates cannabinoid intake using strain potency
• Sends data to a companion app for logging, journaling, analytics
• Optional effect tracking, session history, tolerance trends

Right now it's in prototype/dev stage — I'm looking to build something clean, useful, and respectful of the ritual.

My questions for y’all:

• Would you use something like this to track your dabs?
• Is this kind of intake data helpful or just nerd fluff?
• What features or details would make this a must-have for you?

I think you are looking at this too narrowly. Why limit it to dabs? I usually have 10+ strains of flower on the go and would use this. It beats the manual method that I currently use. To make that practical, I'd need some way of associating the NFC code with the strain, but I think you must have that already. I'd also want to track smell, taste, hunger, effects.

Definitely interesting to me.

Totally with you on this actually, this would ideally be plug and play with bud as well, just requires a slightly bigger container. The underlying tech is the exact same, NFC captures cannabinoid percentages (by weight), and then the log works the same way.

The cataloging the smell, taste, hunger, etc. is a great callout and would be something integrated into the app side.

Handy if it also was able to be used for herb to rosin percentages for us rosin makers. I currently use 2x scales and a calculator to work out results from pressing my own rosin from buds.

That's honestly a great idea, but currently, the scale is optimized for small container-based measurements (like individual dabs or small flower jars).

That being said, a modified “rosin yield mode” for small batches, where you're only running a few grams to maybe an ounce at a time, is definitely something I could explore. Appreciate your feedback and ideas!
