Greetings fellow vapers,
I am new to this site and this is my first post. I've been evaluating a new vaporizer purchase and wound up here, among other places. And yes, this site helped confirm my original idea of getting a new vrip heat wand, but that's another story for another post, probably in the existing thread started by stonemonkey55.
This post is to display my current vaporizer setup. I didn't say I was proud of it, and I won't. But I thought that this post my serve two important purposes:
1) Start a discussion of homemade devices - McGyver Brand is what I am using here, whatever...
2) Provide insight and (more likely) amusement to fuckcombustion readers around the globe.
So here it is, the model 06:
The parts are, clockwise from top left:
- Makita heat gun
- "The Notch" grinder
- bowl, adapted from vriptech VaporBat, any glass one-hitter would work, if you put a screen in it
- rubber band
- heatgun to bowl adapter, made of aluminum foil and blue painter's tape
The heatgun to bowl adapter, profile
The heatgun to bowl adapter, heatgun nozzle point of view
The rubber band - I know everyone needed to see a closeup of that
The heatgun with the adapter attached, via the rubber band
The bowl setup:
- Wrap top of bowl in painter's tape
- Use paper towel strip(s) to add bulk around painter's tape
- Seal the whole mess in more painter's tape, but be sure to leave the glass at the very edge of the bowl clear of tape and paper (see the next photo)
Edge of bowl close-up
The basic idea is to get the bowl to fit snugly inside the tapered end of the adapter.
The model 06, fully assembled.
My heatgun setting. It's a tiny bit lower than normal because the bowl is pretty close to the nozzle with this model.
The fit in my current assembly is tight enough that when I pulled the bowl out after taking a puff of vapor, the adapter and rubber band came out with it. That doesn't happen too often and it provides a version of the sub-assembly I hadn't thought of. The glass of ice water and the pen are to provide scale :-)
So there it is, in all it's glory. It provides a solid vapor stream, though a bit harsh. I ameliorate the harshness by putting one or more ice cubes in my mouth when taking a puff.
I hope you enjoyed this presentation, if you have any questions, please let me know.
Adios!
