Marijuana and epilepsy

After dealing with epilepsy for 15 years I wanted to share my story with marijuana. Maybe it will help someone.

I started marijuana to try to self-medicate the disease. The epilepsy medication are very strong and can cause big side effects both physically and psychologically.

Marijuana gave me alot of side effects too. We all know them. Going to work high is not the best thing in the world. It's easy to use the excuse of the disease for getting high. Long term daily use will get to you after a while. I was irritable and anxious. One of the thing that helped the most was switching to a CBD strain at the dispensary. It helped with the anxiety and general side effects. This is the most important thing to me if your using marijuana as a medication.

I finally got a epilepsy medication that worked for me this year. I stopped marijuana and after so long of heavy daily use it's not easy.

I feel alot better and have more energy and will to go outside, do sports and just be more productive in general.

If you use marijuana as a medication my recommendations are be sure to use a CBD strain. Talk to your doctor and be honest. Use moderation.

Good luck!

Epilepsy comes in many forms and effects everybody differently. I know many epileptics who can drink and be ok, but there are others who can't even have a single drink. Cannabis on the other hand doesn't seem to have the same risks associated with it.

For me, I do not drink at all because it is a trigger. Cannabis does not seem to be a trigger unless I have an anxiety attack from it, which is something that only happens if I have a very low tolerance (generally happens after taking a t break).

For me THC is very helpful at combating many side effects from prescription pills. I also think that for epileptics who quit drinking like myself, that THC has fun effects which allow us to get a buzz without the risks of alcohol. I think humorlessness can be a side effect of epilepsy sometimes and so it helps to have a crutch that can help you relax.

I should note I have temporal lobe epilepsy, and my seizures are completely controlled by pharmaceuticals.
