Kratom to become schedule 1 on Setember 30

Title says it all. Kratom will become a schedule 1 drug at the end of September. Just a heads up.

Does it have potential for abuse? Sure. It is used medically? Yes it is. States that have made it illegal have seen an increase in Opiate overdoses as people switch BACK from Kratom. But hey, we certainly don't want people using it as an alternative to more damaging Rx drugs. And how can a safer and more effective alternative to Methadone be a good thing?

My evil twin sister may know someone that just bought a Kg of the stuff online at a huge discount in preparation.

Links worth having.

yeah, I saw this a while ago. not that surprised, but will definitely lead to overdoses as people go back to real opioids now that they won't be able to get kratom.

I actually learned about kratom from a post on fc. Took it for a while, helped with my anxiety and fatigue levels a good amount. Ultimately I stopped taking it a number of years ago, but it is very helpful to many people.

Tonight a friend told me the same so I signed in to post this information and I am glad to see it is already here. It seems really unfair from what I read. Isn't that Rosenberg the same guy who said it was laughable that cannabis has medicinal properties? Why is marinol legally on the market but cannabis is not medicinal (I did not find it too medicinal myself, but the dose is way too low).

Is there anything I could do to help keep it legal, or is there no chance of beating it? Even though I don't use it, it should not be made illegal in my opinion. I did not think this kind of thing would ever happen again. I signed that petition thing.

I haven't been following it day-by-day, I saw some follow up stuff about how other parts of the government actively want to research kratom / mitragynine. And those parts of the government are at odds with the DEA. There is an email address you can write to mentioned in that original letter. There's also The American Kratom Association, which is supposedly run by Nancy Pelosi's son. That you could donate to / I think they have info about what you can do to help on their website.
