Knock Box, a better abv-tray

I learned awhile ago that knocking abv out of the bowl was the way of keeping vape screens clog free. With regular ashtrays it's a pita knocking on the side. Enter espresso knock boxes.

This thing has been so much better than ashtrays. The bar itself is slightly rubbery so it a satisfying knock.

I went with a budget knock box to test it out, I think it was $18. The only thing I looked for was walls higher than the knock bar and blue. But it's been great.

Highly recommend.

Yep, I've been using a silicone ashtray in a similar way and it is by far the best way to empty the bowl that I've come across; just tap it on the side. I like when the whole pack comes out as a single puck too.

My silicone ashtray has a rubber spike in the middle (Amzn, of course). I also keep a set of sous vide magnets inside to use as decappers / coolers for my analog devices.

I've found ejection (via tapping) works better when the load is still hot / cooling, vs. ambient temp. (like you, I kinda get a kick when the load falls out en masse.)

Without the debowling spike it would definitely be a lot less convenient to empty a bowl that has cooled down. The one I have has holes around the edge too and they're pretty good for holding a heat wand/rod, like for the Chameleon Glass Hash Pipe, while you wait for it to cool back down.

I bought a bag of cork pipe knockers to stick in my old ashtrays and reuse them in a similar way

I'm using cork too, mine's just a wine cork stuck in a silicon base to keep it upright. I also jammed in a toothpick for a debowler. Works great! Cost me $12 and I drank the wine.

Great tip! Using an espresso knock box for AVB collection is ingenious. The rubbery bar makes emptying bowls efficient and satisfying. Thanks for sharing this practical solution!
