I'm not completely new to vaping but I still consider myself a newbie because I have yet to own my own. I've vaped out of a whip a bag and a log. I've also vaped with bongs attached to a whip out of an EQ and Buddha. I prefer the bag, because the biggest drawback about vaping for me is the way you have to hit a whip, and although it sounds silly, I'm rather impatient. I think it is because I'm so used to combustion, and since most of the experienced vaporizers here prefer the whip, my opinion may change
I don't understand what you are impatient about with whips that you aren't with bags?
One other thing, most people will prefer whip over bags, but most who prefer whip over bags also prefer direct draw over whip.
You could organize some factors in a descending order:
Taste:
- direct draw > whip > bag (just because the bags have to be squeeky clean which they usually aren't and then they taste a bit stale according to people who used them; otoh, the whip leaves some taste too)
Thickness of the Hit:
- direct draw > whip > bag
Efficiency:
- direct draw > whip > bag ( not sure here since i don't know where there is more condensation of THC, whether bags or whip.. the bag has more surface but the whip is much narrower)
Ease of Use:
- Bags > whip & direct draw (this is very much subjected to each vaporizer.. but usually bag vapes are more user friendly)
Cleaning:
- Direct draw > whip > bags (this is also subjected to each vape but there is a tendency still)
As you can see, my evaluation clearly shows several advantages in key factors of direct draw over the others. The main disadvantage of direct draw IMO is the hot vapour in your lungs and what too much of that hot vapour can do to your throat and lungs.
