When I first heard this song I thought it was a tribute to the late and great Marvin Gaye. I was thinking what a rip off when I found out it wasn't.

In the scheme of things I don't think 7 million is that much money when it comes to entertainers. That might not be even enough IMO. Too bad he's not around anymore.

It will be interesting. This opens up the flood gates. Unfortunately the lawyers will make all the money.
They could have done a remake and honored Marvin Gaye said so and still made lots of money. It was just too similar IMO to "Got To Five It Up."

Also the independent/underground hip-hop you are speaking of generates no real money in the music industry.

A musician feels flattered when Weird Al parodies one of his/her songs, and some have said that, that is a sign they have made it.

really... if you think this little thing is bad... try all of pop music... you will find a great many famous people are famous only because someone else was an amazing artist with no connections. writing that music was their job... not performing it.
