international shipping (CANADA - GERMANY)

hi guys,
i hope this is not a redundant query, but i could use some advice:

i recently posted an add in the classifieds that i am looking for a firewood 7 (i am located in germany, and it is not available to be shipped here).

and - amazingly - one very friendly canadien fellow contacted me here that he may be willing to sell his used firewood 7 & send it on its way here.
neither of us have done this kind of transatlantic shipping before. i believe the manufacturer does not want to send to germany b/c of what is involved for a customs declaration when exporting to germany. but having never exported anything to germany myself, i am really just guessing.
i do know it is possible to receive vape-related things here from the US (i have before).

has anyone done this kind of transaction before? should it be sufficient to label the parcel as a gift? or, if not, does anyone have any advice how to go about a proper customs declaration for a used vape?

many thanks in advance, i would really like for this to work out

it probably wont matter much how its labelled as german customs are rather exact. it also doesnt matter if it is a used item, there will be custom fees.

I would declare the product with a value not exceeding $100. You will probably not pay any customs fees.
At least I didn't pay any for a used FW7 purchased from the USA. A friend of mine, who bought a new FW7 from Firewood (before it was no longer possible) didn't pay any extra fees either. It's a bit "au petit bonheur la chance".
In any case, this is an opportunity not to be missed!

thanks, glad to hear another firewood made a similar journey successfully. i think when importing to germany the cutoff for no fees should be €45 value?, but maybe this depends on the 'reason of export (sale / gift / merchandise) '. and "au petit bonheur la chance". do you remember if yours was sent as a gift?

from what i could find online, sending as gift seems easiest route as no special documentation seems required besides a basic customs form indicating reason for export, value, and description of content (aromatherapy device i presume).

It seems random. I've been hit with customs for good valued at only 15 USD and no customs for another valued at 100 USD. Go figure.
Fingers crossed yours slips through but worth it for a fw7....

i imported a FW7 from USA which made a very very friendly member from here (girl) for me
i choose UPS Express which costs me 110 dollar shipment costs. i takes about 3-4 days and came directly to me at home
it was labeld as a gift with a worth for about 45 dollar for a used thing (i dont remeber which it was declare for, maybe collectors item)
which is normally free for 45 dollar or euro
but i had to pay about 32 euro fees. i dont know why. it wasnt opened
i think it can also vary who is working on it i think

thx for all these details. mine is on its way now, at similar value, but i expect to wait at least another 2 weeks (budget shipping). i just hope it wont get held up at customs - two weeks seems long enough :)

The value for customs is determined by package value and post value. So in your case, 155 USD. At least I think it's like that.

agree it also seems to depend who is processing as I've just paid 10 Euros on a total of 35 USD package FFS....
