Salutations Hippie Dickie,
IndieGoGo or kickstarter?
Hummm...
Intense question as it's been demonstrated through some recent IndieGoGo campaig that a long time may be required before we finally learn of some details, like how a bowl gets heated while all other components packed around it must be kept cool, for example, etc.
By chance i re-read carefully, just in case...
Is it even possible for a single person without a ton of money to do anything with an idea other than sit on it?
Ah, now that's quite a bit different. Provided this is an adequate quote, of course...
So i guess what you're actually asking me, Hippie Dickie, is who did it, where and when, etc.
So here's my short answer:
Linus B. Torvalds, Finland, 1991.
Well, at least i think there's a difference of cost when compared with any Microsoft Windows product and yet Linux still lives decades later, despite its modest origin.
